Sooo if Garrett leaves, who are some OC candidates?

On the positive side, welcome back screen passes. Felix on a screen, can you drool?

Not with our OL. That's not even remotely their strength.

I imagine TO will be lobbying for Todd Haley.;)

Too bad San Diego made the playoffs, otherwise Norv Turner might've been available to bring back.:

I hope they stay away from Martz, I'd rather give Garrett another chance than turn it over to him.

Brian Billick might be a decent option if he'd accept the demotion back to offensive coordiantor, he uses wideout and running backs with proper balance and creativity, at least he did with minnesota in 1998.

Who would hate this exactly?

Ray Sherman - promote from within

Mike Shanahan

Mike Martz - was relieved from SF

Scott Linehan - was decent as OC before the HC job

???

Scott Linehan is a good fit. Another name that I just read on the article section got my attention: Bill Musgrave. I know he wasn't a genius in Jacksonville, but then again, since Tom Coughling left that team, who has ?

Can we steal someone from Miami? Some payback....

Actually there is a guy I'd love to get from the Dullphins but he would never leave Tuna: Dan Hennings.

Everybody keeps pointing out to Sparano as the guy down here, but Hennings was the real genius. He did great in Carolina, when he had healthy bodies, and I remember Tuna wanted to bring him to Dallas.

would u make a play for FB Lorenzo Neal in FA? Cause, he is the one FA I want most of all. I miss a Moose type FB. Since we have a power running OL, I feel we need a power blocking FB. Neal is the best in the league right now.

Also, if Javorskie Lane is available in the 7th, I say we grab him. MB3, Choice, Jones, Neal, and Lane would make one awesome backfield group.

With the 3 RBs we have, all of which could be starters, this team should be a running team next season. Felix and Choice both would do great as pass-catchers to boot.

maybe throw in a johnnie lee higgins and BAM! a power house offense!

More running using all 3 backs, more Bennett, less Romo.

Billick sounds good also.

I would 86 TO, trade for Schmidt to be the lead FB, and use Bennett a lot more.

Still want me?

Schmitt..... you need a new FB for this spring.

Linehan might be a possibility, no way do I want Martz or Sherman as OC. Shanahan is not taking an OC job anywhere

A guy who might not be bad is Jeff Jagodzinski. He was the HC at Boston College but got fired because he interviewed for the Jets job. His experience is on the Offensive side of the ball. He was the OC for Green Bay in 2006.

Mort said yesterday if he didnt get the Jets job (and probably wont) then he almost assuredly will be joining Jim Mora in Seattle. He coached with Mora in Atl before.

He also worked very very well with Matt Ryan.

I doubt there is much of a shot at him. He has no connections with Dallas and the Jets are interested in him even as a head coach because he might get Favre to return.

No top OC candidate will come to Dallas right now. They know Wade is living on borrowed time.

Only someone desperate for a job would take Garrett's position.

He would have been a great signing last year before he went to the Ravens.

I don't care he's a hundred years old and if he'd only play a down or two a series. You won't find a better lead blocker. But since we don't believe in running the football philosophically, I suppose he did not fit.

I have a strong feeling next year that we're going to use Barber/Choice/Jones a whole hell of a lot more. All 3 of those guys could be starting backs, and each one brings their own dynamic aspect to the running game.

Whoever is our OC next year, since Garrett is gonna get it while the gettings good - better not waste our richest position.

That's what Phillips foreshadowed at his last press conference so it is reasonable to expect it.

But really all it means we give Felix Jones 5 carries a game instead of 2, but those three all come out of the shotgun.

Mike Shanahan doesn't exactly fit our team's current offense. (the oline is completely different than what Shanny likes and we've got BIG BUCKS already tied up for years to come. That said, it doesn't mean Jerry won't bring him in anyhow.

Mike Martz had Frank Gore and wouldn't use him. We have three capable backs, he wouldn't use. No way I bring Martz in here.

Scott Linehan is someone I would look at though. Of course if Turner gets canned, I would like him to return to Dallas as a OC only of course.

I agree 100% with this. I noted several days ago that I would somewhat demote Barber from the starting running back position to share the job with Choice. Felix is the change of pace back who wouldn't just run the ball on 3rd down. I would also put him and Barber in the game at the same time that way a defense wouldn't know if they were getting Thunder (Barber) or Lightning! (Felix) :laugh2:
