Mike Shanahan doesn't exactly fit our team's current offense. (the oline is completely different than what Shanny likes and we've got BIG BUCKS already tied up for years to come.

No matter how many times this is repeated, it does not make it any more valid.

Mike Martz had Frank Gore and wouldn't use him. We have three capable backs, he wouldn't use. No way I bring Martz in here.

Adding Martz would be about as intelligent as adding Coslet years ago was. The man has a huge ego, has designs on a head coaching job and would have no qualms about sabotaging whatever head coach he is working for.

Scott Linehan is someone I would look at though. Of course if Turner gets canned, I would like him to return to Dallas as a OC only of course.

Of the people on this list, he would make the most sense. Therefore, look for Martz to be more likely.

Brian Schottenheimer.

Hoo-dee-hoo.

I like what he did with the Jets, a good offensive coordinator who believes in a strong run game, and also basically designed portions of the offense around Leon Washington and Brad the backup QB whatever his name is. If he doesn't get the HC job in NY and is out then I think I would love to see what he could manage for some of our niche players and the offense as a whole.

He is innovative, has a future, would be a pretty good candidate. Might even be someone Phillips could sell to Jones since he worked with his father.

But you really need to stop thinking out of the box. It is fruitless.

Think "continuity". That way you will not be disappointed.

That's what Phillips foreshadowed at his last press conference so it is reasonable to expect it.

But really all it means we give Felix Jones 5 carries a game instead of 2, but those three all come out of the shotgun.

That just reminded me of how hard Choice had to fight for yards, when the defense immediately knew what play we were running.

Even more reason to see that his future is bright.

People might hate my gameplans. We'd be a running team and all 3 of our backs would be involved.

On the positive side, welcome back screen passes. Felix on a screen, can you drool?

Felix on a screen would be awesome Hos --but you would have to teach the cowboys what a screen is and how to run it:)

I personally think this is the best candidate put forward in this thread.

Because in college that was my main assignment if I was going to get the ball. I'd be a frothing at the mouth, arm waving lunatic describing how to do it, and they would listen. If for no other reason, to shut me the hell up.

Musgrave has done a great job with Matt Ryan (who I *never* expected to be this good) and there's the slight Jerry connection of us drafting him.

Schottenheimer sounds good... He's always been considered a smart guy and being Marty's son, I think it would be a plus that he'd be seen as a "Wade guy". It's important that all the coaches be seen as being on the same page, even if only for perception's sake. Would he be going to Cleveland with Mangini?

I'd still rather have an older guy who's been around the block, because I think Tony would be more likely to listen to him than a young guy. Saunders?

Any number of good candidates could work... It's more a matter of fit and ability to get the most out of Tony than being about some kind of "system". I definitely think we need more of a power game emphasis, though.
