Posted by JacobSloan on January 19, 2012 Vice notes that many of the congress members supporting SOPA/PIPA perhaps need to do a bit of inner soul searching, as they themselves have websites with copyright violations. That includes Lamar Smith of Texas, the author of SOPA, whose website background is a photo (likely lifted from Flickr) by someone named DJ Schulte, who does not receive credit or a link as he should have:

Big coincidence, he's also received like 250K from the entertainment biz for campaigning since 2008.

Not a shocker at all he'd be a violator. In fact, by definition of SOPA, this very website would be shut down.

I called my senator today and spoke with someone just to try and get a little info out of them. Of course, the canned response came but when I started talking about how he's received huge amounts of donations she simply said, "I'll pass your concerns along to Mr. Bennett".

I didn't even know he was the 4th biggest beneficiary. Wish I would have at the time.

Don't forget the jail time.

I'm curious. I know there have been a few who spoke up against SOPA bashing.

I won't name names but I wonder how they feel now.

Is there anyone on this site who supports what amounts to be the "nuclear option"?

I don't see why anyone would support it. I can understand wanting to protect against piracy, but under the SOPA regulations being proposed, it's a lose-lose for all. Even this site could easily go down.

Exactly, I was kinda curious how Reality feels about it (he owns the site, right?)
