The biggest driving issue here is that Clark came into the league with godlike hype and I think the players in the league who have had a chip on their shoulder about people denigrating the league, their demand for better salaries, etc. took it as a slight...............

Does race play a factor? Sure, I would guess for a small number. Her sexual orientation? Doubt it.

But the biggest issue was that you had established players fighting for respect and then along came this college kid that everyone said would save their league. I can see how some got rubbed the wrong way and have had it out for her.

He disagrees with you as to why that's the case. You want to play the white/straight card but I think he's more right - it's a jealousy thing. Clark came in hyped as the savior of the league and it's quiet easy to realize that would likely rub many veterans the wrong way.

Exactly. Caitlin did a lot for the league. Her and Reese’s rivalry or whatever. But yeah it took them to get their respect and it’s triggered some of them for sure. I followed the sport and yeah it was great young talent like Sabrina, Aja, Plum, Skylar, Breanna….

But the money came rolling in when Caitlin came.

Someone made the point if you go back when Tiger first came on the PGAT, there was a similar kind of jealousy. Now was some of it due to race? Probably, but the bigger driving factor was you had all these PGA vets saying who the hell is this kid and why is he getting all this hype before he ever tees up in an event?

But in the end, Tiger made them all wealthier.
