That's a pretty good amount of coin for a RB that averages 57 carries a season.

If he wasn't drafted by the team that already had LT, he would be averaging 250-280 carries a year for at least the last 2 years. He's a very good RB and will now get his chance to prove it.

Wow, after the Jets gave Thomas Jones a rediculous amount of money they're gonna take McFadden.

I may sound crazy, but the Jets are gonna be a contender next year.

Maybe. Maybe not. He hasn't proven he can carry the full load/be a feature back in the NFL. Yes, he hasn't had the chance to prove so because of LT. But its not a given he can. I remember people thinking Hambrick was ready to start (when he was averaging 5 ypc) behind Emmitt and his sub 4ypc. Hambrick got his chance and floundered.

Maybe Turner will follow a different path. But its hardly a given. And its a lot of coin invested in an unknown.

wow! they already have Jerrious Norwood... that being said Turner is more of a banger in the middle and Norwood is more like Warrick Dunn.

Alot of money for a backup that is really for the most part unproven.

This was a great deal by the Falcons

I don't think it's that great of a deal. You are talking about a backup who has around 1200 yds. for his career. Oh, and those 1200 yards came in not 2, not 3, but 4 seasons!!

Thats a lot of money for a pretty big ??

I'm not really sure whether the Raiders or the Jets take McFadden. Those seem to be the most logical spots for McFadden to fall. But with so many good running backs in this draft and both teams having signed their current running backs to long-term, mega deals and with those teams being more than a running back away from the playoffs, I don't know if they will take DMac.

It seems more as if the situation is setting for a Dallas trade. I hope not, but the tea leaves are pointing in that direction.

Consider who he was behind.

I think Turner will be an injury-free Lamont Jordan, he did well when he left Curtis Martin's shadow, but got dinged up after his 1st year w/ the Raiders

btw, don't think Al Davis thinks along clear lines, he's infatuated w/ speed players, and McFadden is plenty fast

I agree, I don't want to trade either but it is starting to shape up in a way looking like we will trade up somewhere between 4-7 to pick DMac.

As long as we get that Nickel CB, a #2 WR, I wouldn't have a problem trading up for McFadden. However looking to the future, what do you do about Marion Barber when he wants a long term contract? We just can't put that much dough in two RB's. With that being said, I think Dallas is better off either staying put, or trading up a few spots to make sure they get that CB they want (DRC please!!).

Yep. Looks like D-Mac to the Raiders now.

With them re-signing Fargas, I don't see them picking DMac either.

My bet is on the Jets.

I hope the Jets don't because I really do not want the Pats drafting Gholston. I hope the raiders go after DMac anyway.

Oh, you missed Mark Schlereth pimping out Turner, I take it? According to Mark, Turner is going to be not just a starter in the pro bowl next year but will be a top 5 running back.

You know, based on his vast resume.

So Let's see:

1. L.T.
2. Steven Jackson
3. Westbrook
4. Larry Johnson
5. Michael Turner

Sounds about right.

Ever hear of A. Petersen?

:laugh2:

Like I've said before, teams like Denver and even this year's Packers have proven that running backs are not some rare commodity like a QB. I don't see the point in paying out this much money for a position with the shortest career span in football.

Would I give this much to Barber though? Yes, if we still platoon...meaning he won't be as susceptible to injury if he's not carrying the entire running load. He just means way too much to our franchise.

I'm gonna go cry now about the Mavs loss in OT.

This is exactly why you take Felix. Pay Barber and then bring in a guy who's used to sharing carries and won't cost you a boatload of cap space. It's the only logical move. Then we can take the WR and CB that we need.

The point wasn't the list, the point was how ridiculous it was to have Turner in the list based on so little.

I knew someone would say something though.

This is the same as Lamont Jordan to the Raiders a couple of years ago.

I think the delay in getting Barber inked was that both sides wanted to see what the "so called top FA back" received.

Now that the contract is out there, we and MB3 can use it as a model for his contract.

Maybe that is what the delay has been, seeing what "market value" was for a vet RB.

If this is indeed what has been going on, expect Barber to sign this week.:D

turner is a very impressive RB. he plays a little bit like barber with more speed although barber is a lot better at breaking tackles n punishing people. i think he will be worth the money for the falcons...
