no i would say outside of violent crimes this country bases their laws on economics. Tax laws, zoning laws, property laws, etc.

Zoning laws have a great deal to do with morality also. I don't want a strip club next to my kid's school. Property laws??? Almost all morality.

the primary basis for zoning laws is economic. in fact in almost all laws you can find an economic impetus. the two are not mutually exclusive.

Well who put the pressure on the legislature to put the kibash on the industry? It wouldn't be people who felt morally compelled to act against it would it? hmmmm?

And are there not many people that are strongly against the meat industry? Hmmmmm.

No they're not... but my point is there's a moral basis for most laws. Much much more so than economics.

Of course not. People are not attached to cows, and they eat them. Most people that OWN cows own them for food.

Well hate to break it to you, but there are entire segments of the law where economics play little to no part. My specialties, Criminal and Family law to name a few.

and i can come up with economic basis for all of them.

as for childrens protection it is good for the long term viability and ability to compete to educate and protect children.

ownership is the absolute basis for economy. without it capitalism is impossible. murder is an economic deterrent and a waste of human resources.

like i said they are not mutually exclusive.
