Just like Jerry, many are fascinated with the QB position. Flash over substance. With a good defensive line / offensive line draft, this team could make a run this year and next. Drafting a QB in the first round this year would end that chance.

One other thing not mentioned........... if the Cowboys fail to make the playoffs again, there's a good chance Garrett and this staff are gone.

Wouldn't you rather the new staff pick the QB they want? As I said in another thread, if you drafted Manziel and then went looking for a head coach and only limited it to guys who like MAnziel, that would be idiotic.

to get teams that really like hime to move ahead of them to take him and push other players to us, or to make teams that want him think that we might take him if he is there at 16 so that we can get better offers for our pick.

I don't think we have any kind of run in us next year but OL and DL are definitely the shortcuts to success in the NFL.

Manziel is being used as a ploy to increase the likelihood of Dallas landing the defensive help it needs, either by Manziel pushing someone down to 16 or by serving as trade bait in a trade-down scenario.
