My understanding is that it's offset language. If that's true, I never heard of that for a 3rd round pick. That's usually a holdup for 1st rounders not signing.
It is quite common for 3rd Rounders... they are almost always last to sign

They get very little guaranteed money..... Gallup got 880k last year..... so they haggle over offset language and every dollar

This is not good, we are playing hard ball will our best draft pick!

All kidding aside, 3rd round players are tougher historically under this CBA. It will get done, just not as easy to slot.

Would that be for moving money to salary, bonus, gurantees?

The new guard should be glad that Dallas was the earliest to give him a team to play for...and his future in a very strong offensive line should be appreciated. What's the hold up?
so you think he should just take and contract thrown at him?? lol
I think the overall amount is set by draft pick , so it would be other things like guaranteed money etc.

There's a flaw in the last CBA contract with 3rd round picks, in the sense that "max allocation isn't defined the same as the first 2 rounds." This simply means that the new language leaves more room for agents to negotiate as a result of that contractual setup.

McGovern isn't the only 3rd round pick to take advantage of the situation. It's been historically commonplace, in fact, since the last CBA contract came into effect. The next CBA will most likely address it and try to change it. In time, McGovern will sign; it's most likely just a matter of hashing it out. ;)

Easy signing lower level draft picks in Cap era with ceilings on what they can make.

The old fashioned adage still applies to 'rooks,'...earn it first.

As if over a $Million is chump change for today's role in society.
Are we really sure there is some hard negotiation going on and Mcgovern and his agent are making things overtly difficult, or is that just the story that has the most dramatic effect?
