IRVING, Texas – He threw a couple of guys around this past weekend as if they were Pop Warners.

He looks strong as bull.

Built like one of those top-loading deep freezers.

He’s quiet, but seems quite serious about this game of football.

And to most out there, he’s a forgotten man, and understandably.

But around here, when so many want to throw jab after jab at the Cowboys for failing to do enough this offseason to improve their offensive line, they must snicker quietly to themselves. They know better. They know they’ve got a real shot at multiple upgrades to the interior of this offensive line.

This stopped me quick as I read.

Does he actually think that the folks who brought us a decade of futility and ineptitude are 'snickering' about anything?

Who exactly do they 'know better' than?

Amazing that this paid mouthpiece can think that anyone outside of his money masters believe this.

Prior criticisms aside, I hope that Leary does show something when he goes up against NFL competition.

One of the man issues I had read was that the jump to the NFL was tough for him mentally and that his head was spinning trying to adjust.

If that is truly behind him, I look forward to seeing what he can do.

Can never have too many good offensive line candidates in my opinion.

Biggest Cowboys shill there is: Mickey Spagnola.

This has nothing to do with Leary, but Spagnola is just the ultimate shill. A broken clock is right twice a day, doesn't mean Mickey isn't being a shill here. Leary could turn out great, but that won't change anything.

Glad to see it wasn't just me.

I agree that I also hope Leary does well, but for Spagnola to try to have this attitude in an obvious and glaring area of failure is ridiculous.

But it's often his tact when Broaddus dares criticize anything Cowboys too.

Seems to be his M.O.

I've been on Learys bandwagon, he's gonna start at one of those OG spots. The dude is strong as a ox, he was raw and needed a season to adjust to the NFL. Keep your eye on this kid.

You won't find a worse read covering any team.

He'll tell you so the one time they actually win something. And forget about the two dozen or so seasons where he couldn't have been more wrong.

All is well. Jerry and Stephen are snickering. And you just can't argue with those kinds of successful decision makers over the years.

We all hope Leary is legit but our OL is in crisis mode and plan A at G shouldn't be crossing our fingers that we hit on an UDFA. It's another clear example of the team not prioritizing line play and they'll never win a thing until they do.

Not really.

I bet you're eating one right now.

Anyway, some of us like the occasional cupcake. And I don't think this one is all that far-fetched. If they don't end up bringing in Moore, they're probably waiting to see how Leary performs in preseason. It wouldn't shock me to see the guy win a starting job somewhere.

I have to disagree about Mickey being a shill for the team. Listen to Talking Cowboys and you'll hear him and Broadus taking the Cowboys to task for their mistakes. They publicly call out team officials and players who they also have to see in the office every day. They publicly disagree with some decisions the team makes.

If they seem to be a shill then it's only in comparision to other media guys who are generally negative because that's just who they are or are going for shock value to get attention.

Now I will say this article does seem to be overselling Leary a bit but Mickey is definately high on him because of what he's heard from the coaches. That's been obvious from watching Talking Cowboys.

That just my two cents.

Mickey's pretty much a shill in print, but, I agree, if you listen regularly to Talking Cowboys, he seems to have a reason to believe Leary is developing into a player.

Then again, he thinks Parnell's likely to be a bust, and you never hear much about that.

I hear Broaddus being the critical one and then he has to deal with Mickey defending whatever move the Cowboys did or did not make.

Passing on Sharif Floyd being the latest.

I agree 100%. The Cowboys snickering about how they have this oline thing fixed is a joke. Mickey has made a joke of himself.

Mickey's game is blame deflection, and that makes it difficult to take his work at face value. However, he does occasionally make a valid point, and I hope this is one of them.

I'm not sure about him starting. Maybe he'll take a big step, but he didn't look very good last preseason.

I'll take progress and be happy with that this year.

Broaddus is more critical than Mickey, for sure. Mickey tends to be more critical of things in the rear view mirror. Though, there are situations, like with Parnell, where he'll pick his shots. I think he's mostly just a positive guy who's pretty easy going. You do have to take what he says with some salt, but he also does have inside info just from being in the building if you're willing to read between the lines.

In this case, for instance, I think coaches are telling him they really think Leary *is* developing into a starting-quality player. It'll be in the way that Free became starting quality early on, though, and not as a dominating force in the middle. Still, though, for an undrafted college FA, that's pretty cool.

I'll be happy if by the last quarter of the season he's splitting playing time with whoever wins the RG spot. I think that's the most we can hope for at this point. Could change if he has a great preseason though.
