We traded a 3rd string TE and a LB about to be cut for Pacman?

Why was this a controversial trade again?

Actually someone within the Dallas media, don't know if it was Spags or not, said he had been told by some in Cowboy organization/players that Fasano's problem was above the neck -- wasn't smart enough. Assume he penned in as Dolphins starter now & their media probably crowing they stole one from the Cowboys, but 3rd TE Tony Curtis was overtaking Fasano. Admit being surprised by Bennet pick; he's got real good size & sure looks more like a WR then a TE when he making those catches & then running with the ball. Will be interesting to watch his development. Sounds like a guy whose hungry to be the best he can be -- said he wants to learn from Witten so he can become a pro bowler.

Translation: Fasano was too stupid to learn Garretts offense.

I am still not sure how Fasano will hold up if he has to go full time. Don't he have a plate tying some stuff together?
Hos's amusing comments aside...Fasano does have a metal plate in his back holding several vertebrae in place. He had it coming out of college and it was one of the things I did not like about him. Back problems never go away and I knew we would have injury problems with him. I just didn't expect it to be his shoulder.

I like Curtis as well. I can't wait to see our new rookie TE at 6'6" go up and get some passes.

It was the Spags that made the comment that 'despite the shoulder injury the organization felt his problem was above the shoulders'. He mentioned J. Garrett's not being able to use Fasono as he'd like.

This gave me a bit of perspective. I am now hopeful on what Curtis can bring to the offense with the ability to follow Garrett's creativity.

That being said, I did appreciate Fasono's ability and contributions. He gave me a feeling of security with his blocking size and ability as a fail safe receiver in the flat.

I think the whole point is that Fasano just wasn't very good - not a good blocker, not a good receiver. If not for Parcells, no one would have given anything for him IMO.

To make the 2-TE offense sets I think Garrett wants two TEs who can block and catch. This puts the defense in a bind. If they go to nickle, we have a mismatch in the running game. If they to base, we have an advantage in the passing game.

This is sugar coating it. He will be a good player in Miami and we all but gave him away.

I really doubt he amounts to much of anything. 90% of the board thought it was a bad move. Some backed off a bit because he was supposed to be the key to a 2-TE offense we wanted to use. He just wasn't good enough to make it work.

If Parcells weren't around we wouldn't have gotten more than a 7th rounder for him.

Jerry just wanted to play his draft game with all his marbles. He gets this way at this time of the year. But I tell you what, if the Choice guy pans out, nobody will be moaning about only recouping a 4th rounder for these 2 guys. it just seems we got a raw deal specially since we spent another 2nd rounder on yet another TE. but look at it this way: what if we hadn't made the trade, draft who we draft and end up cutting both of them which probably was doomed to happen without getting anything in return. jerry indeed hoodwinkled them, they coulda gotten them for free.

i betcha Spags will come up with this "original" spin tomorrow.

Norm said on Brady Tinkers foxsw show that there were games last year that Fasano didn't know some of the plays. Is that sugar coating?

I think the Fasano pick was insurance because Witten was not signed, bad move by Jerrah trying to grind out a deal, you always pay more in the end, look at Romo's deal he waited a year and you pay top dollar. I hope he does not try to cheap out on Newman ...pay him his 9 mill a year 30 guaranteed.
Barber will need his coin too. Be proactive Jerrah sign Newman now.
