Spears being traded?

Haven't seen that yet.

Not consistently...but I hoping that we have not seen anything so far from this defense that we will see once the season starts.

You got to know when to hold them and know when to fold them...

Yeah, but with those she could spend her whole life ON her back and never have to haul them off to work.

Actually being on her back would be her job.

Not me...not a dime, not a nickle...not a penny! She's disgusting!

I'll keep an open mind to the possibilities that Spears was indeed held back a bit, and/or used in a way that did not play to his strengths. I'll keep an open mind to the possibility that Spears has a chance to be a very good defensive end for us, and that Wade might just put him in a position to excell, as he said he would.

I'm not saying these are facts by any means, but people are acting like it is impossible that Spears can back up his talk. As I said before, lets give the guy a few games to walk the walk.

I have a feeling that our organization thinks much higher of him than most think. I'm not so sure that Wade doesn't feel that he has a heck of a set of DE's and that Spears might just very well be considered a vital part of his plans.

I've not heard Wade or Jerry say a negative thing about Spears this offseason. Is it possible that even a Spears who has underachieved as a pass rusher and/or was held back some, is still better than most? The depth chart seems to suggest such IMO.

That said, we could very well entertain a trade offer, it is quite possible that a few of the other teams who really liked him coming out of LSU think highly of his ability, and contacted us knowing how deep we are at the position and make a legitimate mutually beneficial trade offer.

I don't buy this notion that the organization has given up on him and is willing to take peanuts for him. I'll be shocked if we trade him unless its for the equivilent of a first round player or pick.

why in hell would you want this to be true?

David

Maybe he wants to make sure we have room on the squad for the great Ellis?

Spears, if and when he plays under Wade's, um, i mean Stewart's scheme, will excel.

So much that he will surprise the naysayers. The same ones who don't bat an eye when they say they want to keep aging "stars" like Ellis and give up on promising youth.

I hope you guys are right. I will gladly eat crow if he kicks butt. So far in his career, he has done nothing to justify the #1 he cost us.

Not gonna happen - guaranteed.

If you change Spears' name to John Smith and forget about the fact that he was a 1st round pick, his backers wouldn't be .............well............backers, at least to the extent they are.

That guy is SO average it's not funny.

He does talk a good game, but let's wait and see how he does with this new scheme, because I would bet that this defense will be nothing like what we all saw in pre-season.

Or...maybe the trade bait is true?

Yep - decent against the run and near non-existent as a pass rusher does not make a good first round pick.......not in my book.
