Will these four ever be a force in the NFL or is the potential turning into average? D-Ware could use a little help, don't you think?
Not sure why Ratliff or Hatcher is in that group...Dallas 67;1254031 said:Will these four ever be a force in the NFL or is the potential turning into average? D-Ware could use a little help, don't you think?

Don't stop. Keep going. I'm buying.IndianaCowboyFan;1254071 said:Several, how many Purdue games have you watched? Woodley has a much better surrounding cast. You guys that like Woodley over Spencer should check the comparible stats. Spencer is by far the better player especially when you consider the surrounding cast.
Anthony Spencer is the sleeper candidate. He got little press compared to Woodley. Purdue players v. Michigan players. Spencer has a 4.5 40 time when recruited by Purdue. He was double teamed most of the season also. Here is a Woodley v. Spencer comparison. Who looks better to you?
Forced Fumbles - Spencer 5, Woodley 4
Passes Defended - Spencer 6, Woodley 0
Blocked kicks - Spencer 1, Woodley 0
Sacks - Spencer 10.5, Woodley 11
TFL - Spencer 26.5, Woodley 15.5
Solo Tackles - Spencer 64, Woodley 25
Safeties - Spencer 1, Woodley 0
Purdue does very well with DEs and tweeners to LBs Akin Ayodele, Rosevelt Colvin, Gilbert Gardner, Shaun Phillips and Chike Okeafor to name a few.

Couldn't have said it better. I was gonna question the Ratliff inclusion.AsthmaField;1254057 said:Yeah, I think they'll be fine too. Hatcher really shows a lot of promise at the DE position. He's very fast for such a huge guy and he has a knack for getting to the QB. He'll be a real plus for a lot of years in Dallas. Spears and Canty will continue to improve but I don't think they'll ever put up big sack numbers. At least not in the Dallas 3-4.
Ratliff is the one I really like. He always goes 100 MPH and he too seems to have a little knack for getting to the QB.
Overall, spending a 1st (Spears), 3rd (Hatcher), 4th (Canty), and a 7th (Ratliff) for that group of guys is very, very good value. That's all our starting and backup DE's for a 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 7th rounders. Pretty good. And like AustintoDallas said... they are all young and will only get better.

IndianaCowboyFan;1254092 said:Wow what an insult, an Ohio St. fan, is there a lower form of life? No I am a Purdue boy and am very familar with Purdue's ability to turn out quality DEs.
IndianaCowboyFan;1254098 said:I don't think you would go wrong with either guy. Woodley was higher rated comming out of High School. He was a 5 star player and #1 recruit out of Michigan and was rated third in the country at his position. Spencer was lower rated #17 if I remember correctly and I think progressed further in college. I think he has a better upside.
