I am not saying he sucked or anything, I am just saying that he is not a star player. He is alot like Canty, very solid player but not a star.

He doesn't have an opt out clause like Ware, so his contract isn't as high a priority as getting Ware's done. I would think end of the 2009 season.

Why? It's not like he's going to have a breakout season and get a huge deal in 2010.

He's a JAG. A halfway decent draft choice to replace him and you'll never remember he was ever in Dallas.

If Canty lands a $50m contract in FA, Spears won't be signing anything until he becomes a FA next season.

For those of us who go to the games and know what kind of guy he is in the locker room I think we know why he'd get an extension.

He isn't the greatest player in the world but he is a big part of this team in many other ways.

Plus im not interested in losing our 2 DE's.

Yep, if Spears sets back and watches Canty get Kelly's money (thanks AL), he is in no way going to let Jerry give him a Boy's friendly deal like Rat got.
