2 minutes ago - by Nick Eatman - DE Spears hurts groin, leaves game early
DE Marcus Spears strained his groin in the first quarter and left the game before the rest of the defensive starters were pulled. Spears said he could return next week if it were a regular season game so the chances he plays Saturday in Minnesota seem unlikely.

Thankfully he isn't a WR/DB/RB. He should be good to go by the start of the regular season.

What else is new.

I just hope it's not something that lingers throughout the season.

Our starting DL was much better tonight. We are seeing a few more tweaked groins with this shortened offseason, but at least everyone except Newman seems on track to be back fully healthy by the opener.

Just sit the rest of the preseason. He'll be ready Week 1.

This is one of those injuries where normally a guy would play the rest of the game, but it's preseason. Come out, sit down, don't do anything to make it worse. Get ready for the real deal on 11 September.

Exactly bro...

I thought it was noticeable in the run defense when he left and Igor came in.

I would also be interested in getting a pull of data for groin strains/pulls across the league because of the shortened off-season program.

One can get a quick feel by looking at the Cowboys, themselves. It seems to have hit the veterans harder...as they need the conditioning to be able to marry up with the demands that have arrived. Even with their superior technique and game knowledge. That part just can't be 'head sheded' over the deficiency.

Maybe he is tired of practicing.
Many of the vets pull this every season.
