Actually, I think Canty needs to lose 15-20 pounds and switch to 4-3 DE. He has problems getting low enough to gain leverage. That would punish him as a DT in a 4-3 defense as his only option would be to bull rush and you can't bull rush without leverage.

He pretty much said that he was a playmaking DE at LSU and that it was tough to do what he was asked to do in Dallas.

thats ironic, seeing that when he was drafted and I quote "if they want me to take out the trash I will take out the trash" when asked about playing in a 34. said he was happy to do it and could do it.

funny how that changes when you get pushed around every snap for almost a whole season.

he whined about this all season on his tuesday night radio show.

I hope it turns out great for him and the team. however I have my doubts about him rushing the passer as an end in a 4 man line in the nfl. If he could do it he would have in our nickel and dime packages.

hopefully he can bring a prescence to the tackle spot if we switch.

With ellis, ware and hatcher I am not sure when he would play end.

I really wonder how much football you watch. Its only vanilla in Parcells and Zimmers shared vision of mediocrity.

yep his tuesday night show with brad sham on the ticket.

He said repeatedly we play the hardest defense in the league, having to react and not attack at the snap.

He brought this up many times, one week when jason ferguson was on with him they said it was difficult to get pressure having to play the read and react system.

He said this right after parcells put him on notice about losing playing time.

I took it as whiny. He had never said it before, he said when drafted the 34 was fine with him, if they want me to take out the trash I will take out the trash..

so I hope he is great next year, but man I dont see him rushing the passer at end at all. Could be a great run stuffer in the 43, but not pass rusher, making him a situational player.

To some people, Spears may not have the skins on the wall to say much about this defense. But when Ferguson says this defense is more difficult, folks might want to listen.

For whatever it's worth, I don't have a huge problem with the defense. Bill had a certain style that he wanted to play. At the same time, I don't think some of these guys deserve their labels as busts just because this scheme is a little different.

I happen to think that Spears would do better in more of an attacking system. I wouldn't be surprised if he was frustrated this season either. From the sound of it, a lot of people were.
