He's from Florida State.

Thanks. He still sucks.

On a sidenote, my smilies are not working. Anyone else having a problem there?

No.

I agree, I see Spears more as a DT in the 4-3.

The Texans moved Johnson to tackle in the 4-3 this year and he still hasn't done jack.

Man I hope Spears can get it turned around.

Hasn't Spears missed most of the last two training camps?, maybe that's all he needs.

Will SPEARS step up and become the player we all hoped he would with the 18th pick or is he another big FAT bust?

Keep it up CC, you called out Carp a couple of months ago...Did wonders. Can you call out Rivera too ?

Bust? Spears is a pretty good run defender - he's crap as a pass rusher though.

That makes him one dimensional.
I thought we weren't in the business of bringing in one dimensional players.

If it helps, I'll call out Spears and Rivera.
Spears is a bust.
Rivera was a player five years ago, but now he needs guarding, rather than providing it.

Spears has always had the underachiever label going back to his days at LSU. He had a great Senior Bowl practice, but his production was hot and cold.

Why we thought we were getting any different is just us trying to feel good about ourselves. I am pretty guilty of that.

Canty I still hold out a little more hope. He just plays too high and needs some quality technical teaching. He is very tall and often gets his leverage used against him once a blocker gets underneath him.

We really need a better defensive line coach than we have as well.

Canty needs to go talk to Leon Lett. Lett was same height as Canty and had no problems getting a push.

I still believe in the 3 year rule for draft picks. Don't forget he has the player killer for a DC.

Jarv, I am impressed--you are correct and FINALLY we are hearing something positive about Carp and his play shows much improvement on the field.

I sure do hope this negative post will help Spears play starting Saturday!

:starspin

I rufuse to give up on this team Zoners!

We will beat Seattle Saturday night--I just have a gut feeling!

Isn't funny all this Parcells will get the best out of lazy guys has not been true in one case with Cowboys?

Actually, I would argue at least two cases for BP- Flozell and Gurode.

Tell me what numbers you hate in powerball also...ok :)

What he needs is an attitude adjustment. he still might not be good enough but with the comments he made a few months ago how it's not his job to get the QB, it's no wonder he never does.

I mean I'm not sure what he thinks his job is if a team does happen to pass when he's in the game and he's 1 of only 4 that could get to the QB, but yeah.

I'm not ready to label Spears as a bust, at least not yet. Although for being a 1st round pick, he certainly hasn't shown me, and apparently others on here as well, that he warranted being a 1st round pick, IMO. I don't know what Valley Ranch saw in Spears in the first place, but I haven't seen anything from him yet that would justify him being a 1st round pick...no way!

Bust. He seems to lock up on his blocker, and doesn't want to let go.

He probably didn't get enough hugs as a youth!

It's really not. He's probably been told that a thousand times. He needs to fill holes, take on a couple of fat guys, stop the run and then he can get to the QB.
