Specter again calls for Spygate probe (AP)
Thu, 05 Jun 2008 18:04:41 PDT
Sen. Arlen Specter reiterated his call for the NFL to initiate an independent investigation into Spygate. The Pennsylvania Republican entered a statement Thursday into the Congressional Record concerning the New England Patriots' videotaping scandal. The statement repeats many of the points Specter made in at a news conference May 14, including a push for an investigation similar to the high-profile...

Why should he let it die? Why should Goodell be allowed to get away with this crap?

Cause he just makes it look like a personal vendetta, while i don't agree with the slap on the wrist the Pats got there's really not that much more you can get out of spygate unless they get caught again for something else

I was all for this the first time but this is getting old. Their are MUCH MUCH bigger problems that a senator should be dealing with rather than the NFL...ie, why everytime the price of oil goes down does some big bank come out and say a spike is coming....or how about the derivatives market, or how about the FED being in leauge with JP Morgan, Lehman brothers and the rest.....how about that Mr. Specter...meh I rant and rammble....if I was a Pennsylvanian though Arlen would be getting a letter from me...not that it would do anything....

Since when is the government bound to some sort of rule where they can address only one issue at a time in the country?

A more prudent investigation would be taking a look at the atrocious, dishonest job the Warren Commission did and Specter's role in that.

The Pats and the Commish may have pulled a fast one, but there's no need to turn this into a latter-day Watergate.

Well it sort of is. If I was senator in the state of Texas and the Cowboys lost in the SB and it was found out that the winning team cheate. I WOULD DO THAT SAME THING AS SPECTOR.... and I am sure many on here would too...

One has nothing to do with the other. Such a recycled response.

Thank you.

Again if it happened to the Cowboys... I would be picketing.

The only question I have if is it's such an affront to the average American citizen, why are no other politicians hoping on the bandwagon? And why did he wait until February to start raising a stink over it, when the issue took place in September and was already months old? Why is Specter taking a one man crusade in forcing the NFL to reveal it's dirty laundry and dragging it's name through the mud?

It wouldn't have anything to do with the fact that the NFL and cable companies are deadlocked in a bitter dispute over the NFL Network concerning a mega-million deal, and the nation's #1 cable provider is Specter's biggest campaign funder?

No. No way. It can't be. He just cares about his constituents, and apple pie and the American Way. Just another political hero in Washington looking out for you, the common man.

I think part of it is... the Pats went to SB and couldnt cheat AND LOST. This helps to reinforce anything that is going through Spector's mind.

So when they are cheating they win the SB's and beat MY TEAM(Spector's Eagles) and when they dont cheat they lose SB. So he feels like the Eagles were cheated out of SB win.

I dont blame.... even is there are some peripheral agenda's attached to his motives.

See those creases around his mouth? That's what you get after years of talking out of both sides of your mouth.

I say good! Cheating dogs need to be exposed.

After all, it says in clear as day in the good book, what's done in the dark, will come to light.

And if the NFL caved in on some of the cable company's demands for the NFLN, I think you would be amazed at how quickly Specter would hold a press conference to announce that the investigation turned up nothing and that he's completely satisfied with Goodell's explaination.

But until that time comes, I'm sure he's going to have plenty of "concerns".

he better watch out hes going to end up "found dead" in his house.

I know you were only joking but remember he is a U.S. Senator and that could be considered a threat by the secret service.

Why ? If I am using tax payers money my team or not it is a joke and a waste of tax payers money at this point.

Because your team lost it is now more important !!!! I mean the sub prime fiasco is a bigger issue than a team losing in the Super Bowl

Lets not talk about how we should be reducing the taxes and shrinking the Government
