Well, the drug thing, but look at the way they run. They are mirror images all the way around. They both get better with more carries. Ricky was very ineffective unless he carried the ball 15 or more times. Then, he became unstoppable. Barber seems like he gets better the more carries he gets, though we only really pumped him the ball that way one game, against Arizona two years ago. Turner will use him like he used Ricky.

not even a question

I think that JJ is better than MBIII
He is not a pile runner like many in here think
His running style of the past 2 seasons was a result of Bill's desire

I wanted Parcells for another year so it isn't even anything against him but I have to call it like I see it
His comments in press conferences proved this
Bill Parcells wanted his starting RB to not ever get any negative yardage so that 3rd down was managable if we got there
Absolutely no 3rd and longs
That means starting JJ had better at least get 1 yard or he isn't doing his job

Parcells did not have a chance to instill this in his head his rookie year
He hurt the shoulder and then got pushed to the starting spot because Eddie George was finished
Julius Jones was wild (this is a good thing) and had not been tamed yet
Look at his highlights
The guy is still in shape and hasn't lost a step (N.O. game he out ran everyone) and you think in two years he just forgot how to juke and cut
No, he gets in trouble for juking and cutting which for him, in his role and situation, is taking chances

You heard what Parcells said about him back then
[Oh Oh he's ok but he has a lot to learn etc] paraphrasing
What Parcells was talking about was him learning not to take chances
Don't mess the drive up
Don't get us in 3rd and not managable

Also, JJ did damage on draws on 3rd down
The draws that Marion Barner takes for 7-11 yards Julius used to take for 15-25
He hardly ever got that draw this year that he used to break all of the time in his rookie year

Now, MBIII is good
He is also put in a lot of ideal situations where he can take chances
3rd and 8, the coach isn't going to care if the RB abandons the play to cut back
3rd and 8 and a run is not probable anyway as far as getting a 1st
Take a chance and get the first down you are a hero
Take a chance and nothing happens well, it was 3rd and long anyway
MBIII got to do that a lot and it paid off

So he is good but also isn't scrutinized as much as JJ because of his role
Also...look at JJ's game logs for his career and see how effective he is when he gets 20 carries or more
Now check his gamelogs like the last 7 games of the year and look at his carries

Hmm ? ? ?
Why ?

So Jones having 1 good game against an average D that was dropping 7 and 8 at times in coverage makes people here want to keep him as starter... Right... Jones is nothing more than a average back with absolutely no vision and Barber deserves his chance to see if he can be a Great Starter

So at 11:55 AM, we're shopping Julius. By 3:45 PM, we've moved on to trying to squeeze them both onto the field at the same time?

Nice.

This is like if ESPN's tickers reads, "ESPN's John Clayton reports Parcells retired because of Owens." And then, the next thing scrolling across the screen is: "ESPN's Chris Mortensen has learned Parcells has asked Owens for his hand in marriage."

I'd say he's earned a chance to find out, wouldn't you?
Whether he's earned a chance or not, I think any new coach coming in is going to pretty much open all positions to competition. Granted there is clearly a talent discrepancy at some positions. But overall I think no position is safe from scrutiny.
