We're not running the tampa 2. The real problem with our defense is simple. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken ****. We had about half the snaps at one defensive line position taken by someone who was assumed to be a starting caliber player coming into this year. We lost two of our three starting LB during the game. We have one of our top three CBs out. We're running a street FA at safety because we've been missing a starter for weeks.

The only reason to fire Kiffin would be a mercy killing.

Other than that, it doesn't change anything. It doesn't changed how injured they are, it doesn't change how many parts they lack on defense. It is what it is - it would only be change for change sake.

I don't blame Kiffin for the defensive issues any more than I blamed Rob Ryan last year. The problem is that the idiot owner has no philosophy on how to build a team, and constantly changes directions without regard for whether he has the personnel in place to do it.

And, yes, I'm saying that Jones fired Ryan. Garrett didn't make that call.

So Jerry is going to fire the guy he brought in to fix the defense right after getting his butt handed to him by the guy he fired in order to fix the defense? It would be kinda obvious Jerry made a mistake then wouldn't it?

lol this was a great post.

Kiffin needs a Draft to get HIS defense, of we look like this in 2014 he'll be canned

I'm telling you man every draft pick next year better be on the defense. I'll allow maybe one offensive linemen but if the rest aren't defensive players I don't know what I'll do.

So in other words we put the defense into transition mode in the last good years of our prime players like Romo, Witten and Ware.

Genius.

Honestly, what difference will it make?

We will still line up with bad safeties. A defensive line full of street FAs we just signed. Down Sean Lee.

Fire Kiffin. Do not fire Kiffin. It won't change anything.

Not only will he NOT get fired, Jerry will go on record tomorrow that he is excited about having Kiffen and Garrett for the 2014 season and beyond.

We are close to this season going off the cliff, it will be interesting to see what happens the rest of the way.

JJ will not fire MK. It would only undermine letting go of RR; especially after he orchestrated a game plan that shut us down.

Someone needs to get fired. If not him- the strength and conditioning coach, the water boy, a cheerleader, i dont care. Someone needs to go.

Sounds great in theory. However, this defense has been putrid with Hatcher, Ware, Lee, Claiborne and Wilcox all in the lineup. This defense has been bad from game 1, with the only exception turnovers created.

This is why are problems are systemic without easy solutions.

Our top priorty on offense should be to get Brian Waters back for next year, and find his eventual replacement in the next draft.

He won't fire Kiffen now because that won't allow for any smokescreens for the end of the year when we go 8 and 8 and miss the playoffs again. We have to save Kiff for the end of the year to spare Garrett again.
