Speculation: Per Adam Schein of Sirius radio, Colombo could sign w/Jets

Colombo hasn't signed with the Jets, people calm down...

I just spoke with Vilma of the Jets.
Yep folks figured that out about 40 posts in...

Heart damage was done to some folks though.

There are only two sure thing tackles in this draft... Joe Thomas and Levi Brown... and they will both be long gone by pick 22. Maybe we will need to spend a 1st or 2nd on a guard.

Is it a sure thing that Rivera is done?

Chris Villarrial is available. He would be a short-term fix at best. Same type deal for Mike Gandy.

I've always liked Toniu Fonoti. He has been on 3 teams in 5 years but he is only 25 and he is huge (6'4", 350 lbs)
Actually Fonoti is closer to 400 than 350 and his conditioning has always been in question. He's not somebody I'd want the 'boys to consider.

No offense, but what does talking with Vilma prove?

Its not like all the players are hooked up with beepers that page them every 30 seconds about personel moves.

Doh.

Watch it be for four million a season too.

Guess Leonard is RT.

At Davis' salary and signing bonus, I'm surprised more people didn't see this. It would be just strange and probably cause conflict if you signed Gurode to a $16 million bonus and then signed a guard like Davis to a $20 million bonus. But if you move Davis to offensive tackle, then you get a different story. I won't be happy if Colombo doesn't re-sign, but this is Jones' gameplan.

It doesn't and he didn't.

Players a lot of the time have inside information more so than journalists...

IMO, Davis isn't so much being signed "as a guard" or "as a tackle." He's a guy who can cover either. He can play 4 of the 5 OL positions.

We might prefer him on the right side, playing guard, but he can do a decent job anywhere (and he provides extra insurance for the left tackle position).

Steinbach signed the same contract (basically) to play guard. So did Hutchinson last year. So did Dockery this year. Dielman's deal was similiar.

That's what Guards cost now. I don't care what we paid him, if he's our tackle we won't get our money's worth. He MIGHT be good as a Guard, he won't be as a tackle. Money or not, we'd be better off with him at RG.

Maybe McQuistan is the reason we are not pursuing Colombo hard?
If he can play as BP always said then we should stand pat...

This thread is useless without a link. Thanks.
Have you read the whole thread? Just popped in and posted, huh?

I read about 85% of it. That's more than most on here do in these long threads. ;) Unless I am blind, which is always a possibility, I don't recalls seeing a link that "verified the thread title". If the gist is that there's speculation then ho hum. I'll believe it when I see it.

Well, the last 15% could've assured you that it was deemed pure speculation as noted in the thread title. That Schein was speculating about Colombo, NOT that he'd signed.

That's why your request for a link made no sense.

Thanks for bring order to this madhouse. Tell Vilma I said hi. ;)

Speculation with no link is equivalent to mumbling.

You didn't ask ThreeSports for a link to his Vilma comment.

There was a link to a messageboard also verifying that it was just speculation. This whole thread is speculation. Would that be acceptable?

You know, I just realized this is as dumb a discussion as I think I've ever been engaged in. Asking for a link to something someone heard on the RADIO, but misinterpreted.

Are we having fun yet. :p:

I saw on the Giants board several hours ago speculation that Colombo had signed with the Jets but didn't post cause unless I was sure didn't want give anybody here a heart attack. Also Stephen Jones in interview this morning stated Cowboys were confident they would be able re-sign Colombo. The last somewhat official word is below tidbit from KFFL which states Cowboys confident they will re-sign Colombo. It would appear info about Jet signing is totally bogus or they made him an offer which he carried back to the Cowboys which lead Stephen Jones to make his statement. What do you think? Anyway I won't worry unless there's some confirmation one way or the other.
