I talk a lot about speed the reason will be on full display tonight. What a legit 4.3 guy can do on a football field, Lamar Jackson will put on a show.

Ya know how here comes that pass rush there goes the receivers, and there is that big vacated area just behind that rush and in front of the down field action. Right there is where a guy like Jackson can chew you up.

Vick, Jackson and RGIII the true speed demons at the QB position.Murray appears to belong but he has no credentials at all.

Al Davis got his speed fetish from watching baseball, the Dodgers, Google it. The list of track stars on the Raiders can out shine some countries, dead serious.
.
MNF story or was it a Thursday,,,,

Anyway.....being a track fan I knew all about Tyreek Hill (rookie season) so I.....keep an eye on Tyreek Hill tonight.......so they punt to him, he muffs it, yep.....hahahaha!!!! boy you sure can pick um....Tyreek Oops....ya know how the internet is. So later in the game he gets another punt.........zoom 75 yard TD, yep...crickets.

When it comes to football, speed kills when the individual has football talent. Otherwise is it is completely useless. There are a lot of really fast players that suck and never make a roster.

Give me 10 names of who you are talking about there.

A little tid bit...

Raiders TE Darren Waller's great grandfather jazz/blues legend Fats Waller

I'm not going to provide a list of names. Just google for combine 40 times and you find a bunch of really fast players that did not make it in the NFL.

Other than QB's, you look at actual track exploits for the others.

Way back when they did try to stick track guys*** out there, these guys weren't football players. But those days are long gone. So what NFLer who was an NCAA sprinter also is a bust?

*** Frank Budd, Ray Norton, Jimmy Hines, Tommie Smith, all Olympians all total busts.

A lot of football players run track. Taking a sprinter without prior football experience is not a recipe for success. It is one thing to run fast vs running fast in traffic, catch a football with a Safety or LB waiting to hammer you, avoid being tackled or running at someone full speed and tackling them. And then get up and do it again. And again.

It takes more than speed to play football, let alone play in the NFL.

Dude, I an talking about football players who ALSO run track, ok? Nobody is talking about just track guys, ok? Most world class sprinters are too small for the NFL, more 175 than 210.

I'll take Murray over Jackson any day. I don't care how good of a runner Jackson is, he's not that good. Which is probably why he doesn't have a contract extension yet.

So would I, Murray is going to get even better.

I don't know Jackson obviously but......he comes off as well not overly bright......could be wrong.

I agree. I was one of Murray's critics at first. That changed quick. I also notice pastry Baker Mayfield doesn't have an extension either. Should be interesting going forward.

As of right now I am a bit ???? for both guys, a lot of good with the bad, so...?????

We can say the same about a lot of QBs. Who do they replace them with? Just start over in the draft after 5 years? That is a viable option. Because you know they're not accepting anything less than Josh Allen money. If they did they'd probably have an extension by now.

There really does need to be a change in how these guys are paid, make it more about job title than individuals. An NFL QB makes so much a year and that's it. 25 mill a year after that rookie contract.

They shouldn't have to do that. Just do what Tampa did with Winston and the Jets did with Darnold. These QBs seem to think if the team that drafted them extends them, then they need to be paid top dollar. Prove them wrong by not paying them. These QBs like Jackson, Love, Fields, Hurts, and Lance are starting to be pumped out regularly. I'll even add Allen. Use them for 4 or 5 years and draft another unless they are top end QBs.

Your OP made no mention of football players that also ran track.

Speed is wasted at the QB position unless that QB can pass at a high level. All those fast QB's named mostly spun their wheels. Best .500 QB's ever!!!!

Speed is a great asset to have but far from the only talent. As for Lamar Jackson I would not give you 2 cents for him. The guy is a running but not a guy I would depend on to lead a passing attack.

No argument from me. Now he's thinking too much, not good.

Lamaar would be a HOFer at WR. His greatest assets are being wasted at QB.
