Speedy junior cornerback Patrick Peterson will be remembered as one of L.S.U.'s great

Except Peterson has the speed to recover if he did bite on something. Not to mention the size to jam his man and completely disrupt the timing of the play. Even a QB as bad as Eli, once in rhythm, can kill you. A guy like Peterson can completely change that w/ either a nasty jam at the LOS, a big hit, or a pick-6.

Terrence Newman is a guy who has covered players well for years. Thats nice, but it doesnt turn games around in an instant. Peterson can cover guys well all game and at the same time scare the hell out of QB's and WR's. He would have a big time impact on our defense

Thats the thing. It depends what you want. If you want a guy that'll turn the game around with a huge pick or play, PP is your dude. He will get beat though. Prince will not come up with that huge play, but he will take a receiver completely out of a game.

Says who?

Prince will not come up with that huge play, but he will take a receiver completely out of a game

Unless hes an NFL WR

I agree w you 100% on Princes performance vs Blackmon. I saw the game, it wasn't that bad as people make it seem. However, my concern are his ball skills on the deep ball. I just hate having Dbs that are lost when the ball is in the air. If prince doesn't have that problem then I have no problem w him. I haven't seen enough of him to know the answer to my question.

I will admit that I haven't seen enough of PRince, however, i have seen a few instances on deep balls (Ok st game vs Blackmon) where Prince was completely lost on playing the deep ball. I have seen too much of this from our DBS over the years. Does Prince have this problem too? I sure hope not.

Coincidently, that is one of the few games I caught of him as well. I was a little upset that Blackmon was just able to run by him and that worries me (Speed?). I think at times Prince looks like he has better technique, but when matched up against NFL type WRs he has somewhat struggled and that worries me. Peterson is battle tested having gone up against AJ Green and Julio Jones and more than held his own.

so Brandon Harris or the Jenkins in this draft might be better options for our system then prince. If we draft a cb he better know how to cover and tackle no more mike jenkins (scared to tackle or make business decisions).

Who said Prince can't tackle? He's a very physical CB, he does not lack in run support.

no i know he can tackle Im saying his lack of speed might not fit our system. He might end up being a better cover 2 corner. Im saying can brandon harris and jenkins tackle.

No he's better than Harris and Jenkins, just not on Peterson's level imo.... Peterson's a once in a decade type prospect, like Suh as a DT was last year.

He's a pure man corner. Jenkins is more suited for zone coverage, think Asante Samuel. Harris can do both but is not as big as Prince. Harris may not come out this year though.

Prince's so called lack of top end speed is being over blown. Look at Joe Haden? He is having a great year and just about every scout out there has Prince as the better prospect.

Blackmon ran by Prince on that play because Prince bit on the run and was peaking in the backfield, not because Blackmon could out run him.

Oh man. He's the best run supporter in this corner class period.

no way. With Prince you play him man-to-man period. His technique and change of direction make up for his speed.

It's not just Blackmon, Prince did not look too good in the Big 12 Championship against Oklahoma either.

I think he's a good player, but I am skeptical when people label him 'elite'. I think the Peterson/Prince argument is a lot like the Suh/McCoy argument. One guy is going to be a good player but the other one is a once in a decade player.

Peterson is pretty good against the run as well, I wouldn't say period.

I didn't see that game vs OU. I have already admitted that I haven't seen enough of PP or Prince to make a fair judgement. What I do know is that I would much prefer us to take a safety than a corner.

Let me just say if someone took Peterson ahead of Dallas and we took Prince would you be upset? I think Peterson is the more dynamic player but Prince look very good and worthy of a top 10 selection

I wasn't trying to put you on the spot, just offering my advice based on what I've seen. I'm on board with us grabbing the safety prospect (Peterson) over the corner prospect (Prince).

You know Campo is going ruin this guy completely if he is still here next year.

I'd much rather have Fairley or Quinn in that situation, not so much that I don't think Prince is good but more so that I think Fairley and Quinn are a little higher as BPA and fill a bigger need in our front 7. I don't think corner is as much of the problem as safety, where I would play Peterson. Fairley and Quinn are 2 of the 5 elite players in this draft imo, Prince is just a notch under
