We needed to go DL and DL with our first picks next year before this news.

Someone like a DB or OL could sneak in one of those two but they should get a fast twitch penetrating DT and another pass rusher IMO. I'd still like a big wide fat body to take some snaps when called for. Someone who falls into the later round.

pass rushing DE or penetrating DT. Whichever has the most promise should be our first pick. Then in the second round maybe the other if one is available. Then in the third a guard. This time one from a big school that is ready to play

If Jerry had let Spencer walk when Crawford got hurt people would be calling for Jerry's head for letting him go LOL

Spencer said he will get days off during the season until his knee feels better.

Team officials described Spencer's knee surgery as minor.

"I have like soft cartilage on the inner side of my knee that's causing [the pain]," Spencer said. "It's not stopping the banging of the bone. It's going to take a little bit more time to heal, and we really don't have time right now."

When you hear about banging of bones in the knee, it raises questions about the long-term health of a player and whether the cartilage is gone. Microfracture surgery is a procedure that creates fractures in the bone to develop new cartilage.

But Spencer said he doesn't need it.

Another example where we need to dodge the bullet by not resigning him.

I am not so sure that we have $11m in cap space by not having spencer's salary next year...other guys get raises and also, we need to look at contracts for Dez, Ty and Bruce (amongst others)...I don't see a shopping spree next off-season

This is what happens when you get behind the curve and you don't draft well. It's why you have to be so careful when you go after FAs.

This is why you don't sign aging players to long-term big-money contracts. Spencer will be 30 next year and it's funny how once you start approaching 30 you start taking injuries.

Ratliff played Jerry for the absolute fool that he is, but at least Jerry hasn't yet gotten swindled too bad by Spencer.

From what I saw of Spencer last week he might need fat reduction surgery.
