What kind of "investments" have KC made in their line? Other than signing guys they developed to long term deals?

KC is a perfect example of what good scouting, coaching and continuity can do for an offensive line. As much as I dislike Sparano, continuity is the only argument I can see for keeping him.

KC's O-Line is a perfect example of spending a lot of time and energy on a certain position, and forgetting about other positions such as... Defense maybe.

What team would actually give up a 2nd rounder for Ray Lewis? Has to be false information. Ray Lewis is worth no more than a 4th rounder, 3rd tops.

I think the consensus on this board is that most would pass on the guy as a free agent.

KC is a perfect example of building a dominant offensive line without spending big bucks or high draft picks. Coaching and continuity.

Kansas City: Willie Roaf, Brian Waters, Casey Weigman, Will Shields, John Welbourn

Roaf was originally a first round pick for NO. Traded to KC for a 3rd rounder I believe.

Waters was ironically cut by Dallas as a rookie free agent in 99.

Weigmann was another rookie free agent who signed with Chiefs as an UFA from Chicago.

Shields was a third round pick homegrown by the Chiefs.

Welbourne was a fourth round pick of the Eagles who was traded to the Chiefs for a 3rd and a 5th

Coach Mike Solari has been the Chiefs OL coach for 9 years. Been in the NFL for 17 and coached OL for 14 years in the NFL.

How is an offensive line coach being good at his job related to their defense?

I'd definately take a look at him as a FA, depending on contract number. But you would have to have someone who you can expect to step in for him.

I have to ask which Ray Lewis have yall been watching cause the one I know is a future hall of famer with heart, passion , UNQUESTIONED leader and would be the best player on OUR defense. For a 2nd rounder???? Where do I sign ? Do I even have to mention some of our 2nd rd. choices in th past 5 years ? If any of you would pass on a player like that I question your football knowledge or how much of a :starspin fan you are...:)

Ray Lewis is a very good LB. Yes he might be the best player on our defense if we were to get him. Hes just had surgery on one of his legs. Hes 30 years old. He has a huge contract.

The question isn't would you give up a second for Ray Lewis. The question is would you give up a 2nd and take back his contract. Thats what makes it not a slam dunk. An older LB with a gigantic contract becomes harder to trade, add that to in this NFL era draft picks have an exaggerated value, due to the fact that you likely get a good player whos going to be inexpensive.

I understand your point and agree its a gamble , however Id rather gamble on players like Ray rather than $pend BIG on mediocrity (RIVERA):banghead:

There is a reason Baltimore went to a 4-3 this year.

Ray Lewis prefers it and got owned on multiple occassions in slo mo on the NFL Network.

He's old and breaking down badly.

He wants out because he can sense he isn't valued that highly any more in Baltimore.

They want him out because they know it's off into the sunset for him soon.

Damaged goods.

Stay away.

Since when does Ozzie shop "the heart and soul" of his defense?

He may have been wrong on Boller but he's not wrong often.

I am saving these quotes because you will eat these words. No disrespect intended.

10 games a year last 4 years.

No such thing as staying the same.

You're either getting better or worse.

Ray Lewis is getting Coakley'd and now all of a sudden Ozzie Newsome is an idiot.

So Ray goes to Miami or SF and gets 100 or so tackles over 2 years and calls it a career.

I don't exactly call that eating my words.

I'm pretty sure only teams that suck will be interested.

That will speak volumes.
