If I, Urlacher, and a snail had a race it'd be a tie. NOOOOOOOOO!!!

Seriously, hacksaw does have some connections, but this time I hope he's wrong.

I don't see the point Lee is younger and arguably already better

No point whatsoever. It's moot. And you are spot on about Lee.

Kiffen has already stated that the defense will be adjusted so yes I'd say having a future HOF LB that spent his entire career in a Kiffen defense surrounded by two outstanding young LBs is genius.

He was talking about how the cbs play. The front seven roles are his invention. That wont change

Read up here yesterday that Urlacher is rehabbing like a mother and is intent to stay with Bears. So take it all with a grain of salt. Most here would take him back for one more year but he is on his last legs.

Where would he play? SLB? Lee and Carter are both better than Urlacher at this point.

I can think of worse things than Urlacher in the middle with Lee SOLB and Carter WOLB.

Keep Spencer and the front 7 is pretty much set.

Not even close.

Dallas still needs help on the front four.

4-3 , 3-4. They still don't have the players needed there.

If Urlacher would take a voidable 3 year $10.5 mm deal so we could get the cap hit down, I would take him for really around $3.5mm. He played last year with a torn PCL.

However, he is not coming here because he wants to be a 3 down linebackerand should be if healthy.

DE: Ware, Spencer, Albright, Wilber/Crawford

DT: Ratliff, Hatcher, Lissemore, Calloway/Bass/Price/Crawford

I guess the question in Dallas would be two things:
#1 - Can the Defensive front can get pressure like the Bears' front did. If they can't, then I honestly think Urlacher would get exposed after game four. He was slower last season, but his ability to read the offense combined with the quick pressure helped cover up for that.

#2 - Can Urlacher's knees hold up for another season or two in the Tampa 2? This is where I would be really concerned. I don't know if he can hold up an entire season at the MLB spot in the Tampa 2 anymore. He will either end up out due to injury or start looking very slow by mid-season. Then we will have wasted an entire off-season getting Sean Lee ready to play the role that they will no doubt shove him into after that point.

Unless they think Urlacher can by the SLB, then I would say it is a bad move.

Agreed. All legitimate concerns. I'd add length of contract and cost for one and two years. I'd also add that someone like him elevates not just the play of others but the technique as well. They could also make the contract incentive laden including games played and snaps.

We need at least one additional player -- maybe two -- to run this D.

What we don't need is to sit back and have some fantasy about how bottom of the roster guys like Albright, Wilber, Calloway, Bass, and Price(!) are going to be able to step in and contribute. If they can, that is great. However, it would be amazingly silly to count on those contributions.

Urlacher is probably the greatest Cover-2 MLB of all time. He's not what he used to be, obviously, but I'd welcome bringing in someone who knows the ins and outs of this defense like he does.

As important as the Mike is in the Tampa-2, he was still good enough for the Bears to have a top 5 defense last year.
