Week 1: DAL at TB
This will end up bring one of the easiest games on the schedule. If Raheem Morris is smart, he'll get any advantage he can, which includes making Dallas wear their dark blue jerseys in the smothering heat. Other than that, this game will be over in the 3rd quarter.
Projection: WIN (Dallas 26, Tampa Bay 9)
Week 2: NYG at DAL
Teams with new stadiums don't have a great track record with home openers. With the exception of Brooks Bollinger and Brad Johnson, we had the Giants number last year. I just have a bad feeling about this game. It'll be the typical NFC East dogfight, but a few mistakes on special teams costs us this important divisional matchup.
Projection: LOSS (New York 23, Dallas 19)
Week 3: CAR at DAL
Dallas rebounds in a big way against an overrated Carolina team, who will take a step back in 2009. The Cowboys contain the running game of the talented DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. Demarcus Ware has multiple sacks and Martellus Bennett breaks out on national television.
Projection: WIN (Carolina 16, Dallas 31)
Week 4: DAL at DEN
Denver will be lucky to win 5 games this year. It is difficult to adjust to Mile High Stadium with the altitude and all that good stuff, but Dallas is way more talented than Denver to let this be a deciding factor. Tony Romo has a career high game in passing yards and Witten scores a couple touchdowns. Did I mention our defense makes Kyle Orton or Chris Simms wish they were never born?
Projection: WIN (Dallas 30, Denver 10)
Week 5: DAL at KC
This game scares me as well. It's tough to play at Kansas city and even though the Chiefs won't field a great team this year, this game will be closer than most expect. I'm thinking Buffalo from 2007. although Romo won't throw five INT's. However, Romo will have an "off day" and will put pressure on the defense to pull this one out with a game-winning Nick Folk field goal.
Projection: WIN (Dallas 19, Kansas City 17)
Week 6: BYE
Week 7: ATL at DAL
Fresh off of their BYE week, the Cowboys come out fresh and determined to defeat the talented and upcoming Falcons. The Falcons will be coming off an emotional loss to the Chicago Bears on national television, and the last thing they'll want to do is fly down to Dallas in the heat and play against the fresh Cowboys. Matt Ryan is sacked five times on the day and Felix Jones is unleashed. I still feel a shootout in Big D.
Projection: WIN (Atlanta 31, Dallas 35)
Week 8: SEA at DAL
This game will be over by halftime. I know some people are riding the Seahawks bandwagon, but I just don't see it.
Projection: WIN (Seattle 13, Dallas 28)
Week 9: DAL at PHI
This game just gets me fired up. Sunday Night Football, nationally televised game, in Philadelphia...the Cowboys lose. However, I think this game is the turning point in the season. The Cowboys pour out their heart in this game, the complete antithesis of last year's season finale. A couple of blown calls by the officials and the good Eagles' offense pull this one out. But this is the game where the Cowboys find out their identity, knowing that nothing will be handed to them. True character is shown in defeat. There will be more bumps along the road however.
Projection: LOSS (Dallas 17, Philadelphia 27)
Week 10: DAL at GB
I believe Aaron Rodgers, if he can stay healthy, will be in the MVP running. The Packers pressure Romo and the OL with their newly installed 34 defense. The Cowboys offense fails to keep up with the high-powered Packers offense in Lambeau Field. Yes, we won at GB last year, but history shows we struggle in Green Bay.
Projection: LOSS (Dallas 23, Green Bay 28)
Week 11: WAS at DAL
Do you really think we're going to lose at home to the Deadskins? I don't either. This will be a classic NFC East, physical ballgame. Dallas pulls it out in the end, which starts a mini-winning streak going.
Projection: WIN (Washington 16, Dallas 20)
Week 12: OAK at DAL
Do I need to comment on this one?
Projection: WIN (Oakland 6, Dallas 38)
Week 13: DAL at NYG
The Cowboys avenge their early-season defeat against the G-Men. We get an important win on the road at the Meadowlands. Scandrick AND Jenkins get an interception, although controversy will spew when Orlando's INT goes back for a touchdown while Jenkins fails to take it back for a score.
Projection: WIN (Dallas 24, New York 16)
Week 14: SD at DAL
The second shootout in Dallas. San Diego gets the win here. Philip Rivers goes wild and Darren Sproles gives our special teams fits. We keep it close but the playoff-bound Chargers get the win.
Projection: LOSS (San Diego 31, Dallas 27)
Week 15: DAL at NO
Talks of another December collapse begin to arise, and after we leave New Orleans it doesn't get any prettier. Sean Payton has our number and Drew Brees is just that damn good. Our defense gets some turnovers but our offense fails to keep up with the Saints' offense.
Projection: LOSS (Dallas 20, New Orleans 24)
Week 16: DAL at WAS
With our playoff hopes on the line and with Washington already out of playoff contention, Dallas comes strolling into Washington with one goal: just get the W. With next week's showdown with Philly for the division, this game at FedEx Field is a must-win. The defense torments Todd Collins (Jason Campbell will be injured) and the offense does its job. The December Collapse talks begin to fade.
Projection: WIN (Dallas 22, Washington 10)
Week 17: PHI at DAL
This sounds familiar doesn't it? Week 17, the hated Eagles, playoffs AND now the division on the line? The two main differences: we have momentum AND they're in OUR house. This game is over by the beginning of the 4th quarter. We clinch the division and get a home playoff game.
Projection: WIN (Philadelphia 17, Dallas 41)
Dallas Cowboys: record 11-5 and NFC East champions.
