Players weren’t so much worried about the actual money as they were the ego boost from being the next highest paid!

No because it goes by cash paid and not AAV or cap hit. Its been a couple years since a massive DE player has signed, I think Bosa in 2023 was the last one? Typically the signing bonus money those first couple years that kicks the cap hit down the road is what inflates the tag numbers. Chris Jones and Wilkinson both signed massive DT deals just last year. It probably flips as soon as Parsons gets an extension, Garrett gets a last massive contract extension etc.
