The Sonics have been my favorite team since the mid-1970s, but around that time, I began following the Spurs, too.

I grew up in eastern New Mexico and WOAI in San Antonio was one of the few stations I could get at night. I would sit on the floor in my bedroom (junior high age) and listen to Spurs games .... Gervin, Silas, Coby Dietrick, Billy Paultz, Larry Kenon (my fav) and of course George Karl off the bench.

I loved the old ABA.

I love the way the current Spurs play.

I used to love watching that bizarre turn-around jumper from Jack Sikma... and he was dead-on with it...

I wonder how many 3 pointers Downtown Freddie Brown would have had if the 3-point line existed back then...

But the spurs were my team back then... and I liked the Rockets too with the Moses Malone and Calvin Murphy...

WOAI is one powerful station. I think I've always been able to catch that station no matter where I lived in Texas. Not positive, but I think they were also the station for the Cowboys in San Antonio. Hopefully, there is a nation of Spurs and Cowboys fans building as they catch the broadcast at night in New Mexico, Louisiana and wherever else it reaches. I think it was WOAI that someone once told me they could hear it near St. Louis.

Spurs win the series (real shocker) now that the real games begin we go up against da dam Sonics :banghead:

Nuggets were probably the toughest first-round matchup for any team this year. We spanked them. Seattle shouldn't be too much of a problem. Phoenix will be just like Denver, Dallas, Sacramento and all the high-powered offenses we've faced in the west for years. They all collapse when they realize they can't put up 110 points a night against the Spurs. And as Charles Barkley said, the Spurs CAN put up 110 points against anyone too, they just have the defense to back it up, unlike Phoenix. I love the NBA Playoffs! I can't wait to watch the conclusion of the Washington/Chicago, Indiana/Boston and Dallas/Houston series.

Sikma was amazing. They brought him in to coach their rookie 7-footer out of high school, Robert Swift.

When I first started watching the Sonics, their starting five was Tom Burleson, Leon Gray, Bruce Seals, Fred Brown and Slick Watts. Bill Russell was their coach.

Of course, my favorite Sonic team was the title team under Lenny Wilkens: Dennis Johnson, Gus Williams, Sikma, Lonnie Shelton, Paul Silas, Fred Brown, John Johnson .....

Never particularly liked Gary Payton and loved the trade that brought in Ray Allen (now Allen is about to leave).

the Sonics are way better then Denver because of their ability to shoot the 3 but it will be a tought series.

I'm also a Spurs fan... :spanking:

I'm a Rockets fan ... Clyde was my favorite player ... and he kicked arse on NBA Jam.

I'm also a Spurs fan - Tim Duncan is a class act and so is the San Antonio Spurs team.

I'm also a Mavericks fan - they're from Texas and I like to watch Texas teams win ... too bad they got rid of Nash ... sorry Trick, but they'll never win a title now that Nash is gone. I do enjoy watching Avery Johnson coach though.

Spurs 1, SubSonics 0

This series ain't gonna be close at all if Ray Allen is injured. 3 more wins to go before we whip Phoenix or Dallas, and then off to hopefully beat up Shaq.

Seattle is beat up. I didn't think they had a chance even at full health. This may be a sweep. I'm guessing we play Phoenix next round, and Miami in the Finals, but who knows, it could be Dallas or Indiana. I'm thinking Detroit and Phoenix are good match-ups. Remember when Phoenix used to give us all those problems? Not anymore. We shut down that fast moving offense and they won't know what to do cause the "MVP" and his fellas can't play defense.

Not really. The Spurs have been executing with the precision of a young veteran team that has been in a ton of playoff games already (Manu, Tony 2003 champs, Manu gold medal winner last summer Timmy D - 1999, 2003 world champs 2time league MVP, 2 time finals MVP their ages are manu 24, tony 22, Timmy 28 - Bruce Bowen, 2003 world champs)

Seattle is young and pretty inexperienced at playoff basketball. Ray "Barbie Doll" Allen is the only guy with significant playoff experience (and Ex-Spur Antonio Daniels) and I think it has been pretty obvious these first two games.

Seattle had the misfortune of playing a very soft Kings team in the first. They faced no defense in the 1st round and it didn't help that the Spurs faced a very scrappy Denver team in the first to help the Spurs sharpen their teeth.

The Spurs have really been playing great defense during the 1st 2 rounds, while sometimes the offense would putter. Against a team like Seattle who doesn't play good defense and relies on outscoring an opponent vs trying to stop them from scoring (live by 3 die by 3, thats why phx will not win a championship this year) the Spurs scoring has been really high. Thats because the Spurs are taking it to the hole almost every time down the court. Even the game they lost to Denver they had a chance to win because of their defense. They lost by 6 points and missed 17 straight shots in the 4th quarter. Anyteam relying on that to happen to the Spurs again will not have a chance in a 7 game series with them.

Duncan looks like he is back at 100%, so basically the Spurs can compete with anyone. The only team I can honestly see running toe to toe w/ the Spurs is Detroit (sorry Mavs fans)

Bah. Fluke. The Spurs will win the next game. Miami is really looking dominant out there in the East. They're gonna be a tough team to face, especially if Shaq gets healthy.

Errrr....disregard my last post. The "sky is falling" mentality is officially my mindset now. C'mon Spurs, you better not blow a 2-0 lead to the SubSonics! :nervous:
