News: ST: Cole Beasley defends Dallas Cowboys maligned receiver unit: 'We're just getting open'

Hmmmm, yet Dez was the cancer here.

Dez took all the WR heat, now it is pointed at everybody else and guess what - they don't like it. These guys don't even carry the emotional baggage that Dez carries either with how he grew up. I always gave Dez a pass in some cases because of what he went through as a kid.

Cole's career has been wasted here. If he had a QB like Tom Brady he would be a superstar.

Which is probably why he put the kabob on the contract extension talks. With JG still here, we'll probably see more of that.

From what I’ve seen on film the OL is an 8/10. They probably give great protection 7 out of 10 times, good enough protection to at least get it out to the checkdown or throw it away 2 out of 10 times, and then somebody gets beat, doesn’t pick up a blitzer, or Dak runs into the pressure 1 out of 10 times. OL isn’t A+ right now but it’s good enough to be a fringe top 10 offense with that running game.

The receivers are probably a 5/10, 4/10 if you include the TEs. Cole is right, guys are getting open but the window to get it to them isn’t gigantic. Dak looks for gigantic windows particularly when he’s throwing something that isn’t a slant or another route across the intermediate middle. He’s going to have to find the confidence to throw to those tighter windowp or his career as a starter is over.
Tighter windows, wasn’t there a thread with stats and stuff that showed Dak was the best at throwing into tight windows

wide open, after 3 and outs all game.

It's such a mixture.

If you watch the all 22 someone could be open but Dak is just not in a situation to get that person the ball.

But there was some 3rd down playcalling that their was just nobody there.

I really don't think Dak could've played any better against NYG and against Seattle their wasn't much there either. Playcalling was pretty garbage.

Carolina was on Dak though mostly.

Exactly. Even Akoye, who has been a big Dak detractor, concedes that several sacks last week were not on Dak, and that the playcalling was abysmal.

The Dallas Cowboys offense has struggled through three weeks and the receiving unit has taken a good share of the blame. But Cole Beasley and the other receivers said they've been getting open for Dak Prescott.

If they are getting open then what's the problem?

1.) Dak can't throw or can't see the field or is just checking down too much, or panicing in the pocket and scrambling into pressure.
2.) OL is not holding up.
3.) WRs are getting open, but the play is breaking down too quickly
4.) Scheme issues.

Yeah, probably all that.
The problem is Dink and Dak the 5 yard man. The guy can not read D's, can not read his progressions, and his accuracy is poor 50% of the time UNLESS its a check down, maybe the route trees should be limited to 6 yards maybe then the WR can get more targets.

If we have 4 receivers in a pattern, 1 or 2 may be open, but Dak can't process the whole field simultaneously. That's a gift some QBs have and some don't. That's why in his first (rookie) year he was given less choices and was told to deliver the ball quickly. Now he is given 4 choices, he only see 2 which may be covered so he checks down, gets sacks or throws the ball away, usually running to his right. On the other side of the field a receiver may be open, but Dak can't see it.

He runs from the pocket too often, should be moving in the pocket to by time. When he runs to his right, he can only see half of the field. That sure makes it easier for the defense and th results we see are proving this out.

There’s plenty of blame to go around with this entire offense...and here we got a guy basically absolving his unit of any.

That’s a real TEAM-first attitude there, Beasley.

Good teammate, that Cole Beasley.
Maybe he should just accept all the national media blame. Look what happened to Dez (totally destroyed his reputation) Yeah Cole just fall on your sword. Even though you are open just sit there and take all the blame and criticism for no other reason except to divert the blame from Dak

Wrong. Dak is so terrible. He's bringing the whole team down. What do you expect them to do kiss Daks *** for no other reason but to stroke Daks ego. Dak is historically bad. Never seen anything like this in my 35 yrs of watching football .On any team ever.

of course theyre getting open. Receivers are always open if you ask them. Sometimes they are and Dak misses them or makes the wrong read. sometimes Dak hits them and they drop the pass sometimes he hits them and theres a penalty.

Sometimes they’re open and Dak is running for his life

sometimes a play call works sometimes it dont because of execution and sometimes its just a stupid play call.

If someone can show me a quote of a wr saying they aren't getting open I'll buy into this. Lol I have watched the tape and they AREN'T getting open. It's not all on them though.
Aren't .Does this mean never, on certain plays. All of Wrs all the time.

"I watch video they ain't getting open"

Ridiculous statement. Wrong. Dak is terrible point blank

Strange, why would he lie? Is he getting Romo open or Dak open, because we all know those are two different things.
Romo open, Malhomme open, Brees open, Brady open, Fitzpatrick open, Matt Ryan open, Aaron Rodgers open, Jeff Goff open, Kirk Cousins open and even Troy Aikman open are very different then. . . . Dak open.

You see the difference is the others are actually NFL QBs with NFL skill set.

Dak is a gimmick with school yd skill set

Wide receivers being open and 3 and outs all game do not have to be a mutually exclusive thing.

Its not as black and white as some are claiming. As many have pointed out there is plenty of blame to go around.
