ST: Cowboys All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith lands on injury report

If these season goes sideways, I'd shut him down and have surgery as an option.

Then he can be back next year under a new coach.

Hee hee.

Problem is with this staff they clearly aren't adept at figuring out ways to overcome significant injuries.

They are a staff that needs every talented guy they can get on the roster.
As inept as this staff is, They did go 13-3 last season when their starting qb went down. And the defense held up when their starting cornerback went down.

We're stuck with Carrot top for better or worse. He's goin end up being our generation's Tom Landry. And I mean that in terms of longevity, not success.

Jerry turning us into the Bengals

Time to find a replacement (which will be hard due to salary) or have a back up plan.

No disrespect to Smith (who is very good) but the team needs to plan on finding a LT in the draft next offseason.

Tyron Smith has carried a lot of weight for this team. Reminds of of the song Big Bad John as there is only so much weight a giant of a man can carry. I remember the day Randy White came out with a wrapped thigh or hamstring. It wasn't a good time. Randy White was also carrying more than his share of the weight.

If we could run and move the ball like the Rams did in the second half our defense wouldn't have to work as hard. But injuries on the offense preventing us from moving the ball thus snowball to injuries on the defense who have to work that much harder. We need to balance things out.

Is it possible that his body fat percentage is to low for the amount of violence he undergoes?

Not in my mind...if anything, it's much better for your body (and back) to have lower body fat. Who knows....I'd take a 4 win season this year if it meant keeping him healthy and productive into his low 30's. Winning 9-10 games this season and ....meh, never mind. It is what it is. Just sucks because he's so gifted. Sadly, this will shorten his career: just a matter of how much it shortens it. Can't mess with the back or neck. Could end up permanently disabled.

When he signed that 10 year contract I had a bad feeling he might not see it through. The guy is not even 27, right? He should have 5 more years of top performance. Sigh.

So what, Smith didn't practice on many Wednesday's last year and then played.

Surgery is a last resort and only if there is a serious physical problem. Otherwise, it just makes things worse.

Tyrone needs a visit Dr. Bookspan.

Ouch. Pass blocking!

Yep, the oline has been horrible so far this season, but for whatever reason, it's rarely talked about.

I would think that kind of decline from what was arguably the best oline in football for years, would be a big story.

Can't win without that OL. It makes the whole offense go and we need it especially with our defense.
We aren't winning with them this year so far. That online hasn't had a dominating or even average game yet

A 4 win season and a lot changes need to take place. Starting with Garrett, Marinelli and Linehan. A 4 win season is bigger than injuries. It was solidify what I have always thought. Jason's system, approach and voice has grown stale!

So we have a viable replacement for Tyron on the roster?
