ST: Cowboys All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith lands on injury report

This has been overlooked, and could be a contributing factor to overall decline in Oline play

Its been coming for a few years now his back issues. Eventually we will have to move our all pro guard over the LT in a few years when Smiths back becomes too much of a problem.

Sad part of this O-line, 3 number 1 picks, a highly thought after undrafted FA, and a 3rd round pick and our O-line from the early 90's could work circles around this group (and the 90's O-line was made up from low draft pick and other teams cast aways...this team has no toughness, of course the 90's team was the last time we had a super caliber coach.

Amen!!

Yes...I recall starting a thread on this topic back during training camp...TONS of responses about how I was over-reacting and that he'd be fine, etc. Back issues are NEVER a good sign for any position but a LT??!!! Fuggetaboutit! His agility does appear to be affected at times, particularly against smaller speed guys and against change of direction. Let's pray he can PT his way out of this issue...yoga and alignment work helps if its not structural.
I remember. Bad backs with big men are often chronic and hard to repair. Its bad news.

Yeah, because if he needs surgery, no one has ever come back from surgery before.
Come back? Yes. Come back the same? Sometimes. Backs injuries can linger, even after surgery. Shawn Andrews was another all pro o-lineman who had back issues that left him less effective. He was not the same post-surgery. He also had mental issues, but that's another story.
