ST: Ezekiel Elliott is on the verge of a 31-year-old NFL record

While it is kind of an obscure streak, 80 yards/game would have resulted in being 4th in the NFL in rushing last year. It does say something about consistent production but I always wonder what prompts a person to dig into these kind of stats. How is the cutoff determined? 80 yards? If it were 79 yards the record would be 18 games. Adrian Peterson is literally 1 yard in 1 game away from having a streak of 18 games of 80 yards or more.

You see these obscure stats quite a bit in basketball.

"So-and-so has averaged 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists for 3 years now. That makes him the only player in NBA history to have 3 consecutive seasons where his average points, rebounds, and assists were all prime numbers."

Dak's record is just as huge. But I'm particularly fond of the idea of breaking 80 so many games in a row. Esp in light of today's passing game. Both are a big deal.

Witten will be breaking a Cowboys record for most games played. Reminds me of the 90s when guys were breaking records week in, and out.

They just pull stats out of their *** and sprinkle some sugar on it. Nobody cares about 80 yards a game.

That has agenda driven all over it. I get it you want to add stats for everything to fit the narrative but please don't insult our intelligence with stupid stats like this. What's next? Dak breaks a record for most completions in the 2nd quarter with 5 minutes left while trailing by 10. The record has stood for 40 years.
