The Cowboys had nine rookies play, and they started a combined 23 games. Six of those nine rookies were draft picks.

DB Byron Jones

College: Connecticut

How acquired: Drafted in 1st round

He started seven games at safety and four at corner in what should earn him all-rookie consideration.

DE Randy Gregory
College: Nebraska

How acquired: Drafted in 2nd round

He had a high-ankle sprain in the season opener and had no sacks in 12 games.

OT Chaz Green
College: Florida

How acquired: Drafted in 3rd round

He had hip surgery that delayed his development, never playing a down.

It is too bad he could not stick with one position.

Personally I would prefer he goes at safety.

Our secondary is so bad we didn't have a choice. Maybe that was Henderson as well??
I'm with you though, I think he can be a fantastic safety.

That looks like a top heavy draft class. Kind of like the Dez/Sean Lee year. Nothing after it. Collins was an UDFA. He's not part of the draft class.

Without question. Jones and Gregory have potential with various degrees.

I feel pretty safe saying Chaz Green will never be a top notch starter. Just my opinion.

Damien Wilson and Ryan Russell look like players that will bounce around the league long enough to get the NFL pension.

That is where the great and all holy McClay needs to improve. Hit big on a late rounder, it makes a draft.

I gave you a like trusting you were talking tongue in cheek on McClay. The guy's amazing.

I'm hopeful that safety will be where he ultimately sticks. It seems to be his most natural spot.

His worst plays, in my uneducated not knowing the calls in a Roy Williams way, were at corner. If you can match up with TEs like he was asked and do okay, that is what we need at safety.

He had to do what the coaches wanted him to. However, I agree with you. I think his best bet is at free safety.

All in all, he did a very decent job especially since he was bounced around. Should be interesting to see what he does when he is left alone to do one thing. He seems very intelligent.

I'm ok with Jones at FS but I'd prefer to draft one or acquire a veteran FA. That leaves options open at both safety and CB.

Collins not being drafted makes for a rough review on the class. Bad times.
