It sounds like he was just sore. Maybe more sore than they expected, but I'm not sure that's a true setback.

IMO, a setback would be if he progressed to point and then regressed back to where he was weeks ago.

Agree. Not necessarily a "setback". But who knows with JJ's hillbilly ramblings.

I agree. I didn't get the impression of 'setback' from reading those quotes. But that probably gets more clicks than the truth.

Pain creates the dysfunction but it is severe enough here to stop the player. Not sure you can give an injection here.

Very common injury. My son and several of his teammates have had the avulsion fracture. Mo can probably play on it, but he'll experience a great deal of discomfort. I wouldn't rush him back, especially if the Eagles take care of the Giants. Even if they don't, I would play him very sparingly against the Lions.

I won't play him against the Lions and may not even use him in the finale. He'll be needed more in the post season which is far more important. This should give him another 3-4 weeks.

You can't help but feel bad for the kid. The light finally comes on for him and he just can't seem to shake the injuries. It sucks for all parties involved.

I read the quotes and on their own and got the same read you did. It sounds like JJ is talking about soreness following a strenuous workout. Seems like Charean Williams took some liberties.

He are all the direct quotes without the poor interpretation.

“He did do it well, but on the other hand, he did have some lingering effects from that over the weekend. So we will let that sort itself out here this week, let him have some more very strenuous workouts. We’re very pleased with those. And, so, we’ll be looking to him as we look to what we’re doing, see how the games go here. Based on how he was able to move around Friday of last week, even though he did have some resulting soreness, then I think we can look to see him on the field in the future this year.”

1) "...some lingering effects from that" (with that being the strenuous workout)
2) ...let him have some more very strenuous workouts." If he suffered a setback, then more strenuous workouts would not be the next step.
3) "...even though he did have some resulting soreness." He uses the word soreness right there. Soreness is a result, not a setback.

I have a default attitude when reading ANYTHING written by anyone. Step 1. Assume it's probably a lie. Step 2. If it's not an outright lie, I find the part in the story that is designed to illicit worry/anger/fear, then read more to see if it's real or just bs to make the story more clickable. That's the world we live in now. It's annoying to not be able to trust journalists.

Jerry Jones indicates setback in Morris Claiborne’s rehab

Cornerback Morris Claiborne is on the road to recovery, but the question remains whether he will heal enough to help the Cowboys this season.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday that Claiborne has “lingering effects” from a strenuous workout Friday.

“He did do it well,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. “But on the other hand, he did have some lingering effects from that over the weekend. So we will let that sort itself out here this week, let him have some more very strenuous workouts. We’re very pleased with those. And, so, we’ll be looking to him as we look to what we’re doing, see how the games go here.”
Claiborne has not played since injuring his groin in the Oct. 30 game against the Eagles. He has explained the injury as a tearing of bone off his pelvis, which is an avulsion fracture.

He said last week that an MRI brought good news in the healing process.

But Jones indicated a setback in the rehab process, making him less confident in Claiborne’s return this season. In the past, the owner has used the word “absolutely” when asked whether Claiborne would return this season.

“Based on how he was able to move around Friday of last week,” Jones said Tuesday, “even though he did have some resulting soreness, then I think we can look to see him on the field in the future this year.”

We don't need him for the Lions nor Eagles game.

This. This is what was being reported. That it appeared to be soreness and not a setback.

I opened this thread ready to add my typical "won't see Mo this year" comment, but after reading the article beyond the headline I'm encouraged.

Manage the soreness, but I love the idea is Mo doing strenuous workouts.

Looks like they are going to work him hard this week and see where he is at. They should know If it is just soreness by the end of the week. Hopefully thats' all it is.

Yep...which is what JJ indicated. Try to work through it and hope for the best.

I hope they don't rush him. Lets get him back for the playoffs and give him that extra time to heal.

There are 4 games left to get that HFA. 2 Giants and 2 Cowboys games. The odds are very much in Dallas' favor that either the Giants lose 1 or the Cowboys win 1. Winning HFA would allow Mo to rest another 3 weeks.
