Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott had two words for why he’s started his NFL career without an interception through the first four games: Good fortune.

Prescott knows he got away with a poor throw on the third play of last Sunday’s game at San Francisco, throwing the ball right into the hands of 49ers safety Eric Reid. Fortunately for Prescott and the Cowboys, Reid dropped it.

“Good fortune,” Prescott said, smirking. “There was one dropped on the third play of the game, so good fortune.”

With that, Prescott has 132 pass attempts without an interception and is closing in on Tom Brady’s NFL record of 162 pass attempts without an interception to start a career.

Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz is also in the mix, as he’s started his career with 102 pass attempts without an interception through three games (the Eagles had a bye last week).

I feel like the almost-INT was more of a slipped ball/poor throw than a bad read, so I don't think it's as damning.

FWIW, Dak said this week that that ball was him not making the right adjustment to Wit's route.

Whatever, though. The record is the record. Every QB has a percentage of their bad throws not-picked. It's still an impressive accomplishment.

The yards are interesting here. Dak gets a lot of critics for not throwing the ball over 20, I wonder if brady did

He's not throwing it down the field a lot but more so than some seem to think. This offense isn't designed for a lot of deep balls; that's not the HC or the OC's thing.

The other thing is we tend to play a high percentage offense using 3 downs more than some. I think they are doing this more so with Dak trying to keep as much pressure off of him as they can. I haven't looked but I bet someone here can tell us what our avg is for 3rd down yardage needed for a first.

As long as Dak keeps help this team get W's, the interception record is just icing and mostly meaningless to me.
This, plus hating Tom - Marcia - Brady makes it a Bi-fecta. :)
