ST: Scott Linehan making Prescott, Cowboys’ offense look good

So I wonder what effect Romo has been. Romo has the green light to change plays at the line and does so a lot of the time. Makes you wonder?
Dak changes plays too. They just give him one optional play.

So...Linehan doesn't suck any more now?

It remains to be seen. I thought his playcalling against NYG was putrid. Throwing screens to Witten isn't what I would call great playcalling. I also didn't care for giving the ball to EE 28 times against Chicago.

I think he's been better at balancing out the play calling although he started to balance out the play calling last year. He made nice adjustments in the Washington game. Although the Dez 'go route craze' against NYG is more of a gameplanning issue than a play calling issue.

For me, good play calling is more about consistency throughout the season than great brilliance here and there and then duds.

Well, we know it worked with Romo--regardless of who was playing on offense over the years when he was in, the team was always in the upper echelon on offense.
Now we know, so far, it is working with Dak too.

Dak runs the plays he's given and executes them. Gameplan works.

Romo changes the plays and ad libs - Gameplan doesn't work.

However spectacular Romo's gunslinging changed at LOS plays look, maybe the calls are wrong.

Always thought a well thought out prepared game plan is better than ad lib stuff.
What do you mean.
The offense has rarely been the problem with Romo under center.
Even before they had a line or when the playmakers were hurt, they still managed to be in the upper tier of the league.

Offensive coordinators must work on ways to just suck every other year. Everyone thought Mike Shula sucked in 2014. Then he didn't suck last year. Now he sucks again. Strange how that works.

A game plan isn't always about how many yards a team racks up.
