Tony Romo backed Dez Bryant after Sunday's game, and did so again Thursday at Valley Ranch.

Bryant has created a stir the past week because of his two sideline outbursts during the Cowboys' 31-30 loss to the Lions last Sunday in Detroit. Bryant had a pair of animated conversations in the second half, including one with Romo.

Romo maintained after the game that Bryant was not asking for the ball and simply expressing his passion in a positive manner, and audio released earlier this week confirms that standpoint.

Still, does Bryant need to watch his sideline demeanor because of the TV cameras?

"Does he need to sometimes maybe look a little different for what’s going to be written and talked about? Sure," Romo said. "Does it really matter in here? No. He’s a positive guy who loves his teammates. What else do you want?"

Bryant finished the game with three catches for 72 yards, including two TDs, and was targeted six times. It didn't come close to the game by Calvin Johnson of the Lions, who had the second-most receiving yards in a game in the history of the NFL.

Asked if he needed to target Bryant more than six times, Romo said: "I think some games he gets targeted 10 times, 12 times. He’s a great player. You just got to find a way to get him the ball and he had two touchdowns last week. That’s usually a pretty good game, but obviously the guy on the other side had a real good day.

"I think when the season’s over, you’ll find that Dez had a pretty good year and he did a lot of great things."
