Hahaha, did no one watch the game last week? Heath gave up so many passes & couldn't tackle half the time. He gave up a TD deep over the top & messed up on the rushing TD in the redzone. The ONLY positive thing I've seen from this guy was the forced fumble against the Lions. This guy continues to get torched every game he's in. He takes bad angles when tackling & messes up in coverage. Can't wait for Wilcox to come back.

Safety just isn't an important position in today's NFL that warrants a high draft pick.

Lets hire the guy in your sig. I bet 99.9% of the receivers will be afraid to go anywhere near the middle, very afraid........

Now, off to call the guys on "Finding Bigfoot" to start recruiting!

Stafford **in near amazement** talking to Calvin Johnson (regarding Jeff Heath running down Calvin Johnson and pushing him out at the two-yard line):

Stafford, "Who caught you, who caught you?"

Calvin, "I don't know, I don't know...."

Stafford, " Shawn said whoever caught you needs to get his own Speed commercial."

Heath never caught Calvin. Orlando Scandrick caught up to him, and made him turn toward the sideline which allowed everyone else (including Heath) to catch up. If OScan isn't in on that play, no one ever catches Megatron.

Just regarding measurables, Scandrick also had one of the highest verticals ever at a combine.

But, that has to translate to football skills.

Emmett's combine wasn't very impressive.

Gotta measure balance, durability, heart, and other intangibles.

That Lions coach who reminded his players there'd be lots of air in our defense sure knew what he was talking about. Candidly, it doesn't take an expert to recognize as much. Our pass defense is all about air. As critical as I usually am about Jerry's input into coaching matters, I'll have to agree with him about increasing the man to man coverage and decreasing the zone. Even the least knowledgable of fans sensed as much from the start.

You said it. Ware actually had a better combine than Merriman, but many were higher on Shawne because he was younger and had a higher ceiling. Immeasurable qualities show why Dallas (read: "Parcells") took the right man, and why Ware may be in the HOF one day while Shawne is keeping the couch on NFL AM warm at 29 years old.

So far Heath is just like the 50+ garbage S's we have had here since Woddy retired in 2004. We've had no S leave here and do anything any thing significant in the league cuz we go after nothing but UDFA/ST scrubs. Since Woody retired the highest we've addressed S is JJ and AOA in 3.

Heath looks like an athletic Lynn Scott.

I actually like JJ a lot. One of the biggest things that have flashed so far is his makeup speed and sure tackling. He still takes bad angles and isn't as good as you would want him to be in coverage, but he's still new to the position. He has all the tools to be a legitimate starting NFL safety 2-3 years down the road with proper coaching.
