Stanback is A burner!!

What are the odds of recovering from a lis franc injury?

To be perfectly honest, lisfranc surgery is probably one of the most difficult to come back from but Duce Staley, Keith Brooking and Ty Law have all successfully recovered from it. It did end a few players careers or severely curtailed them like Chad Lewis.

It's like any other medical advance though. Most pitchers come back even stronger after Tommy John surgery now.

Kevin Jones is recovering from the same procedure and there's talk that he's doing great.

There were reports that Trung Candidate recently ran in the 4.4s and he had this surgery if you're looking to guage if a player's going to lose speed because of it.

The article already said that they took the screws out so the Cowboy's doctors must have given the thumbs up or they wouldn't have drafted him.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that may have been the reason Canidate was brought in to get a first hand look on if a guy can recover his speed from that injury.

man, I was on the road all day yesterday so I didn't get a chance to sound off on this pick, but it is easily my favourite.

I love the risk involved in a pick like this...Guy is a football player, through and through...Injury is cause for concern though.

Could be Skyler Green pt 2 or it could be a repeat Crayton/Randel El...in any case, this pick and the Courtney Brown pick are ones that have huge upside

...at first, but the more I read the better it gets. I have read that Stanback is one of the fastest players in pads in the draft. The highlights show a big guy with some moves. Hines Ward, Randle El and others have successfully made the transition from QB to WR. He will look like a major steal in a couple years.

Randall Williams had speed too.

There's a difference between having speed versus having football explosiveness. This guy is a real football player and is dynamite with the rock in his hands!

His bio says he runs 100 METERS in 10.78, 60 METERS in 6.8 (indoor track). That should easily be 4.2 or 4.3 40 YARDS

He ran track at the UW. Those times if legitimate were in spikes on a rubberized surface out of blocks. He is fast for a qb, but last I checked they don't allow starting blocks or spikes on the field.

Don't get me wrong, I like Stanback but I think he can play QB, not sure about WR. Nobody can be because he hasn't played the position. Matt Jones who had better measurables hasn't really produced like they hoped.

I really like this kid. If he fully recovers from the foot injury, watch out. Plenty of people have made the transition from college QB to NFL WR.

He does have limited experience at WR from early on in Washington so he does have some knowledge of the position. And all track guys run off blocks and on fast surfaces do they not. Those guys tend to be fast on the football field also. They don't pick the slow guys to run track.
