Then high five; the trade made a big impact

True, though this team has all kinds of other issues that needed to be addressed. The biggest difference was that was year 3 Zeke, and the team still had high end versions of Tyron Smith and Zack Martin-not to mention Dak could still scramble for yards. The 2024 version needs a high end running back, two new excellent OTs, a new All-Pro RG-and a younger QB that can avoid minimal pressure occasionally. But yeah other than those things-same/same.

and none--at this stage of their career--are as good as Cee Dee Lamb

But we DO need a running game
The only real weapon Dak has is CeeDee Lamb.

Rodgers now has Adams, Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall.

Mahomes now has Hopkins, Kelce and Pacheco (once Pacheco returns from injury).

Lamar now has Johnson, Zay Flowers, Mark Andrews and Derrick Henry.

Allen now has Cooper and James Cook. Keon Coleman is a great looking rookie. Allen may also be the best QB in the league, at least this season. He's been lights out and his front office STILL made the move for Cooper.

Dak isn't as good as Allen, Mahomes or Jackson. Rodgers might be a bit washed.

So my question is: WHY pay Dak and not even try to surround him with great talent?

What chance do we have vs the elite QBs when those elite QBs ALSO have superior weapons around them?

I think it is buyer’s remorse at this point. The team’s weapons have not drastically changed since last season. The offensive line issues and Dak’s regression (especially his mobility) are so profound that I think they are just going to re-tool some next offseason. They are not making big moves for one weapon because they recognize they will not likely see the return like they did in 2018. Hope for better next season.

I think they are saving the money to roll over for MP hit next year and see how Dak does elevating the offense. I also think there’s a new coach coming and he will have a say in players. I don’t agree but it’s Jerry the master GM who knows all he’s still saying how good the players are. I’m at the point of believing this was a show me year for MM and he has failed so far

The reality is that Dak seems to have peaked last year
and top QBs paid this kind of money are supposed to do more with less; that is the expectation when you get the really big bucks
Dak seems to be just another player who seems to relax or whatever ONCE HE HAS BEEN PAID

Aaron Rodgers gets Davante Adams midseason.

Josh Allen gets Amari Cooper midseason.

Patrick Mahomes gets DeAndre Hopkins midseason.

Lamar Jackson gets Diontae Johnson midseason.

I don't want to hear about how Dak's contract means he shouldn't need more than 1 offensive weapon or any semblance of a run game.

Our front office BLOWS.
Yep.....but can't stop there......the running game and Fake illnesses may be the most egregious.....Opponents' DCs are cutting gameplan meetings short because there's nothing there to discuss.

Jerry is giving you the unmitigated theory that his 2 highest paid players can beat your 11. If there's no interceptions, overthrows, underthrows, drops, or fumbles from our 2, we can beat your 11. Forget the other 9 on the field for us.

Exactly what weapons did he have last year that aren't here now?

This

He was 2nd in the MVP with:
Pollard - coming off major injury
Gallup - a semi retired WR

Dak looks awful and I promise it's not because those guys aren't here

Jethro is absolutely the biggest single reason we are what we are in all ways
the buck stops in his pocket
that does not allow any player to not do his absolute best and I am not seeing that at all with Dak
frankly outside of our Kicker and our punter I am not seeing that from anyone on this team

I'm not seeing it from a lot of players. It's not just Dak, unless you've bought in to the theory I mentioned. It's impractical, improbable, and impossible.

Some think a Mahomes could overcome the Jerry theory......he'd make it better, but he tosses interceptions too. As good as Mahomes is, deservedly & without question.......do you remember when he lost some OL facing Tampa Bay, due to injury prior to SB, and he still had Tyrek and Kelce.....they couldn't score like accustomed......3 FGs to go with 2 interceptions. No comparison of Dak to Mahomes.

Our kicker is the MVP for sure. Waiting for a 70 yd FG.

I think all the teams you mention feel like they are in the thick of the race this year. For them, 1 player could make a difference. It's the same as when Jerry got Cooper. But the Cowboys this year are not one player away from anything. They need an OL, DL, RBs, and a WR. It would be pointless to trade away draft picks for 1 WR. And Dak himself has got to be better. His INTs have been rookie-like.

The boys are about 15 players away from a team that would be a real contender to win the SB

The boys need an upgrade at the following positions: RB; 2 & 3 WR; RT, RG, LT which is maybe not if Guyton Develops. Center same thing. So at best on O we need between 5-7. we are stuck with Dak so he remains.

ON D we need basically the whole DL except for maybe Kneeland and Osa. But you need say at least six quality guys and at best we have 2. I doubt Lawrence is coming back and frankly he is declining anyway.
LBs: overshown and parsons. We need at least two more.
CBs: Stuck with Diggs and we have Bland and maybe Carson will develop so say we need 1
Safeties we should get 2
so on D we need between 8-10

so between 13-17 upgrades
