I'm bored and not much football going on right now so I thought I would ask the question that is on everyones mind.

Do the rookies this year have stars on the side of their helmets or do we carry over the BP tradition???

I know, I know. Dumb thought but I'm bored.

I think it might be carried over. Im not sure it means much to high draft picks cause they are on the team from the word go but for the undrafteds and other FA, it might motivate them a little.

I wouldn't mind if it stayed, no real harm.

I thought it was a great idea and would like to see it continue.

Agreed. Rookies havent proven jack poo. I like the fact that they come in and need something to earn, something to prove.

A ridiculous "tradition" that shouldn't outlive Bill. You didn't see Landry or Jimmy pulling this sophomoric crap. Aikman and Emmitt didn't have to "earn" their star. These are men, not children. The stupid mindgames have to go.

Every man should earn anything he has.

No, but there's no sound reason for Wade to continue with it. It was a Parcells tradition, not a team tradition. Time for a fresh start.

I think the rooks enjoy it...the water boy stuff too. Newman seemed to look back fondly on having to fetch water for Parcells. I cannot see Phillips doing that, but the blank helmet is something I think Jerry might keep around.

That kind of sentimental hogwash belongs on a high school locker room wall. BTW, why was TO wearing the star in minicamp? He certainly hadn't earned it.

Stars on helmets. Water boys. Sigh. Too bad he wasn't more concerned with fixing the team.

Free agents & rookies are different animals. I'd be happy to entertain ways to haze free agents, but the star thing is an excellent rite of passage for a rookie to earn his way onto the league's premier franchise.

Seriously? The Cowboys were not relevant for years until Parcells took over the team. To not see the value in what he did for the team is hard to fathom.

We're the Cowboys. We're always relevant. Bill was hired to win Super Bowls. He fell way short. Hell, he couldn't even win with the East. By his own standards and ours, he was a failure. Time to move on ... by leaving his bogus traditions behind.

I don't like it, because it sends a negative message to the rookies from the get go. I'd rather instill a more positive "team" concept and let them get comfortable as soon as possible.

bbgun, it's just asking for an opinion, it's not a thread-starter to go off on the Cowboys

Haha....I knew it had more to do with who started it then the actual act of it.

And you're right....the team isn't any better off then they were before Bill. Hes done nothing.....absolutely nothing. Every faulter the team had was his fault and he had absolutely nothing to do with any sort of success. In fact, I would go as far as saying the team is in such a hole because of parcells that it will take a good 10 years to correct half the problems.

He asked for an opinion and got it. I'm lampooning Parcells, not "the Cowboys."
