Yeah, I don't see much upside in playing him right now either. I think he's a legitimate long term backup prospect, but I wouldn't really mind getting a pick for him either.

If we think he is a legitimate long term prospect, we probably should keep him around because we know there will be a point where Romo needs to be replaced. The only way trading him now makes sense to me is if we could get a 3rd round pick or higher, and there is no way McGee would get that. The best he could probably get at this point in his development is a 6th rounder, and I don't see the point in trading him for that.

I guess the goal really is that #1 pick.

It would appear that way.

Yet even more Choice should start threads yay his 3 ypc is legendary on this forum!

I would send a message to the veterans on this team this week.

I would waive Barron and bring up Travis Bright. Bring up Brewster to fill the spot left by Jason Williams

OL = Free, Bright, Costa, Brewster, & Young

Backfield = Choice

Start Dez

Start McGee

DL = Lissemore, Brent, & Ratliff

LB = Butler, James, Lee, & Ware

S = McCray & Church

Yes, I'm serious. If the veterans want their jobs back tell them to take them back.

I find nothing wrong with this idea. Might as well see what you've got during a year that's already over anyway. See if any of those youngsters can get the job done.

He did actually make someone miss on Sunday and had a little life.

He played well in '08. I don't really know how you can knock that performance and just write it off to blind luck. It was not against shabby teams.

I hope he gets a chance to play!

I understand what your saying Hos, but the Cowboys (Jerry Jones) wont do any major lineup changes till after Cowboys are totally eliminated from the playoffs. That should be after the Giants game for sure.

If Cowboys lose to Packers, their what 1-7, which if they win rest of their games, they would go 9-7. So, still an outside chance. Jerry doesnt want to admit defeat till Cowboys are totally out of it.

If cowboys win sunday, then pain is that much longer till cowboys are officially out of playoffs.

Now, what I would do is this if I was the Cowboys.

1. Put Romo on IR, he cant help, and you might risk further injury to his collarbone.

2. Release some players say after Giants game;
A. Leonard Davis
B. Barber
C. Columbo or Kosier,
D. Brooking
E. Kitna
F. Baron (you as coaching staff and owner should know if this guy can play & you plan on resigning him next year, if not, let him go.
This will clear up some cap money for next year, if cowboys lose to packers and Giants.

3. Sit ball, start playing church and mccray to see what you have at safety. Hopefully after Giants game, Ansah is fully recovered and you can start playing Ansah at free safety to see what you have.

4. Activate Bright from practice squad, and start playing Costa at center and Bright at OG, and see what Holland can do and if Holland can stay healthy. Sign another free agent OG from some other teams practice squad, as well as other players you know about. Play stephen McGee to and possibly sign a backup QB from some teams practice squad.

See what you have with the rookies, first year players, mixed in with veterans. Sign Brewster and see if he can play OG too. Play McCann too and see what he can do on kickoff returns, as well as play CB.

Now, as owner, look at the rest of your roster, and make the hard choices going forward. Are you plannning on resigning Spears, as well as keep Bowen. Absolutely let Jason Hatcher loose as soon as he clears injury, he keeps getting hurt, its obvious you can cant on him for full season. See what Lissemore and Brent can do on defense. Play Butler, Brandon Williams and Leon Williams, mixed in with some vets on defense and see what they can do. Absolutely sit Spencer after Giants game if you indeed have lost the Packers game and Giants game, see what you have in your young defenders, while playing Sean Lee in Brookings old spot. Giving Brooking a chance to get onto a veteran team that might make playoffs. Let Young play at ROT, see what he can do for next year.

Finally, either play Ogletree or let him go too. And let Choice and Felix run. See what players quit on you and what players fight. So, going into next year, you have cap room to sign some veteran players like Mankins, and others you might have for need.

I'd play the pups but not all at once. Each week give a couple of different backups a chance to play with the vets. If they do well, they can start the following week as well. If not, give a different backup a chance instead the following week.

This would cause too little continuity in the lineup to give the pups a chance to succeed.

Looking at Hostiles post, if we started all our backup O-linemen, how would we really be giving McGee, Dez and Choice a chance to show something? It might actually get McGee and Choice hurt.
