the Pats didnt' run a 3-4 when he was moved to MLB

Would it make since to decide 1/1/06 to go 3-4 without having any pieces in place?

Wouldn't it make more sense to start acquiring them ahead of time and then make the move when you have enough to pull it off?

McGinest 94
Ted Johnson 95
Bruschi 96
Vrabel, Seymore 2001
Warren 2003
Wilfork 2004

This is BP (McGinest), Belichick, and Crennel adding these guys.

Pretty sure it wasn't to do their best Dat, Dex, and Al S impersonations.

Burnett just tores his ACL. I thought that was a 2 year recovery process. How long does it take someone to come back fully healed from an injury like that?

Sometimes, ....., never. It's a VERY serious injury.

Nors,

Back to your "BP drafted Banks and moved him outside from inside".

IE KB and Howard are virtually the same size and BP didn't have a problem drafting KB.

A) KB's going inside as soon as we have depth at OLB.

B) Banks is the guy that BP was significantly bigger than KB. Actually I think the word was appreciably.

He doesn't want KB, Al or Howard sized guys at SOLB.

He wants McGinest or Banks at SOLB, not Al, KB or Howard.

It's Carpenter or Manny at SOLB IMO.

I think Thorton is a hidden sleeper that's already on our roster. Just watching a little of him in preseason, I loved the way he got to the ball carrier and QB. Once he read the play he was like a missile shot at the QB. Seemed to have some fire too.

There are a lot of good LB names this draft....but I'm skeptical that Zimmer can turn someone into a great player. He'll scheme them away from their athleticism and instincts if they have any. "Don't attack, react"

That very well could be - yet he also went with Als who has played at 228 the majority of career and had zero pash rush skills.

Carpenter is the flavor of the month and Manny an option. Heck Fujita is an option. I'm not sold that if Howard will not be looked at if he weighs in at 243 and shows 4.4 speed and NFL strength that he won't get a look. If his edge rush skills are as advertised we have an impact LB.

You get so hung on Pats LB's yet dismiss the Joey Porters, Ray Lewis types that starred in that role in 235/240 pound frames. More pure LB versus the DE/LB type. Ware has that role now.

CoCongo showed a lil yesterday - might be a late day 2 UDFA look at.

On KB - He put him behind Ware for depth reasons. Why would he put a "small fry" at that spot?;)

I don't think many people saw the performance Mincey put on last night in the Hula bowl. He's a DE projected as a 3-4 OLB and he was like a father playing against the elementary school kids.

He was absolutely dominating, with 3 sacks and extremely aggressive (reminded me of Merriman a little)

Ray Lewis was at his best behind Sam Adams and the fat sideline announcer in front of him in 4 man line.....he was also bookended by Boulware and Jamie Sharper. Ray Lewis got his you know what handed to him in the 3-4 uncovered last year and it was all over ESPN and NFL channel. Hence they go back to 4 man line this year.

Again, Joey Porter had 4 years of college going toe to toe with OT's. Howard has zero experience at that.

For the 15th time KB was at OLB cuz we had no depth there even if Al S was healthy. James wasn't being moved, Fowler is too slow, Dat:lmao2:, Shanle.

We had close to zero options for depth at OLB.

Mincey looked very good yesterday.

CoGongo played like a UDFA maybe late day 2 thought.

Kiwi to play at Senior Bowl. Maybe they move him to LB in drills? Doubt it. Lots of LB talent at Sr Bowl - on ESPN all week. Get that Tivo going!

Thomas Howard also there.

Burnett is a bust. He had two debilitating injuries IN PRACTICE. He will never be healthy and will be lucky to ever regain his speed. Two words: Injury Settlement.

He is actually hurt though. He isn't soft. I am one of Burnett's biggest critics, but I think we should keep him. He might be ready to play by the half way point of this season. This could be Jimmy Smith all over again if we let him go.

I wouldn't give up on him either. The guy is a rookie, and until the guy plays a season or so, it's hard to judge what he can be.

I konw this, he has the physical tools to be the ILB in this defense.

I thought it took players about 2 years to get back their burst. Spagnola kept blabbing that Westbrook should be healed from his ACL tear 2 years after we signed him. Am I thinking of some other injury? Achilles?

From what I've seen, there's no definite answer. Some guys come back full speed quickly, others don't. I've watched every Titans game this year, and they had a few guys go down with ACL's the season before....I wouldn't say any of them are back at full speed. I remember Edge James saying he felt 100% after 2 years.

I'm not optimistic that Burnett is at full speed at the beginning of the year after suffering a late season tear. But then there's different severities of tears....and I know nothing about that.

:jerk: yeah, then DeMarcus Ware should have had 15 sacks his rookie year, Zimmer just held him to 8

again :jerk:
