I saw a stat on espn today that said Brett Favre threw the most picks in the 4th quarter with his team trailing by a td or less last season with I think it was 14! In second place was Ben Rothwhatever with 7! my question is where does El Romo rank cause the only pick that comes to mind in that situation was the one that lost the Pitt game? Also if you can find out Where did McNabb and ShEli rank?

good question, I am interested in seeing the results as well.

I will venture to say that Romo throws few picks in the 4th quarter. I don't know about the "trailing by a TD" part.

That was Steve Pelluer's specialty though.

could you please find out where Babe Laufenburg ranks on that list as well, thanks

I believe the Pittsburgh interception was the only such pick.

But that's not really something to get excited about. I looked at his picks and some were late in the 3rd quarter, and he threw 2 picks in the closing minutes against Pitt. He turned it over way too much, no matter the situation.

Couldn't tell you where he ranked in terms of 4th quarter INTs when trailing by a TD or less, but I'd guess he didn't throw many considering:

1. There were at least 26 QBs who threw more 4th quarter INTs than Romo. There may have been many more, but the list stopped at 26.

2. Romo led the league in 4th quarter QB rating.

thats nice to know.

The one pick at Pittsburgh with the game tied was the only such pick surrendered by Romo.

And that was due to Witten running the wrong route. Or at least so Witten claims.

Are you sure they said it was for last season? As theogt's link shows, Favre threw only seven interceptions in the fourth quarter last season, no matter the score.

STATS has a split for "late and close," although I can't seem to find the specific definition of that right now. Last year, Favre and Roethlisberger each threw four interceptions in those situations. Romo threw one. McNabb and Eli Manning threw none.

That's why we have to dump Witten.

i'm pretty sure but not positive. judging by your numbers it was probably the last 2 seasons i guess. I just found it interesting that they said Ben had 7(the 2nd most) since he's "such a good qb" according to some because he wins superbowls. I thought that stat showed even more how much his #1 ranked defense bails him out.

It is truly sad that Romo sucks in the clutch.

According to NFL.com's stats Favre threw 4 TDs and 6 INTs in the 4th quarter when within 7 points. His QB rating in that situation is 65.8.

Near the bottom of the page...

Romo threw 8 TDs and 1 INT in the 4th quarter within 7 points and had a 117.9 QB rating in those situations!

Nice that NFL.com is carrying that stat in their splits -- wasn't always the case.

Yeah, they've gotten a little better about that stuff.

I don't know what you are talking about...117.9 is poo poo....you are aware 158.3 is the highest the QB rating gets...until Romo gets his QB rating up to 158.3 he will remain a choke artist.

at least it appears that is the case for most fans. even then he wont be clutch lol.
