Statement Game for Tyron

I think that if Tyron handles JPP - and by handling him I mean no sacks and being able to control him - he will set the tone in the trenches and make a statement for him being the top young LT in the league. The kid has a world of talent and all of the coaches have raved about his abilities. This is a huge stage on Wednesday and if he proves that he can hold his own against one of the best young and dynamic D-lineman in the league it will make a huge statement. Like pro-bowl and here comes the accolades statement. The stage is that big.

I understand that JPP will probably be moved around to take advantage of various mismatches with our OL but I have been looking forward to this match up since I found out Tyon was making the switch to LT. This will be a pivotal match up and one that has a chance to possibly set the tone for not only our OL but our team as whole.

If this shakes down the way I hope it does we will not have to hear the Giants talking about their young unstoppable DE that runs rough-shod over our 0-line with ease. We can say, yeah, JPP is good but we have a kid that can match his ability and take him out of the game.

I understand that this would be a huge undertaking for Tyron but it is possible. All eyes will be on this clash.

Go Cowboys!!

1st real game ever as a pro at LT should not be considered astatement game.
Hey, but if he dominates? Oh yeah

There's a flip side to this also....

I understand this but we might actually have someone that can handle JPP which not many people can do. Maybe he lays an egg but here is hoping he more than holds his own.

I am hoping this plays out much the same way as Erik Williams used to handle the then unstoppable Reggie White - although this probably won't be nearly as violent and obviously on the left side not the right side.

The Giants watched our preseason too. If JPP doesn't line up or stunt inside on at least 30-40% of his snaps, I would be shocked.

That's what I am saying and hoping for. If he domintaes he will be the talk of the league. JPP has so much hype right now. This would be huge.

Yeah, no matter what happens, I think it's more important the we realize T Smith is only 21. If he plays well, he'll be a future 10 time pro bowler. If he sucks, a lot will want to cut him, etc.

I want to see the OL play well as a unit. What good is it if Smith shuts out his guy, but Free doesn't.

Well, let's put it this way.

He practices against the best...

;)

If Tyron proves that he can handle JPP without help in this game the sky is the limit for this kid - he has arrived. If he struggles no one should turn the lights out on him - as you guys said he is young and his first game at LT. I truly think he is up to the challenge.

JPP is/or more than likely will be the most dynamic d-lineman in the NFL. If Tyron handles him then he should not have issues with anyone and our LT is solidified for the next ten years.

Great point! And from what I hear - he has held his own in a camp that some are saying is the best of Ware's career.

Ware was already quoted as saying that once Tyron locks onto you...you are not going anywhere. And, he stated that he has not seen to many players that can do that to him.

If JPP isn't handled we might have to give both tackles some help. If Tyron takes care of JPP on his own it will allow more guys to release into patterns to attack the D and open up our playbook a bit. It would really impact our offense if we need to keep two extra guys in every passing play to help out our tackles. Just my take....

Yeah, it's a little unrealistic to ask him to make a statement against one of the great edge rushers in the league in his first game at LT.

I sure hope Tyron wins the battle against JPP, but in my mind I can't help but think of that 2007 game where the Giants had 4 sacks against Winston Justice of the Eagles, in Justice's first start.

Then again........Smith didn't do too badly against the Giants in those last two games against NY did he?

Lets hope that Smith is on a different level than Winston Justice

Giant edge rushers are going to get theirs. We're going to have to overcome it elsewhere.
