Cooley didnt run over him Newman whiffed on the tackle because he had what they called a slight concussion

Are some of you nuts? I also read somewhere that Newman didn't have a pass interference or an illegal contact called on him this season. If those are true: no TD's, no pass interference calls and no illegal contact calls = SHUTDOWN CORNER. He has shut down the best out there week in and week out and some of you still would be happier with Mario Edwards.

Ok, then why he is playing RT rather than LT, when he is being paid like one? I thought he was drafted by Panthers to be LT and besides seems like the LT they have is nothing to crow about either. So its not like Gross was beat out by a better player for LT spot.

And please show me the or provide the links pointing out Gross to be top 10 Tackles in the game? I am not saying Gross is bad, but I dont think he was worth the high pick he was picked at.

What!?! He had his back turned to Cooley when he got nailed by him. How is that even trying to tackle him. If you remember, he got spun around about a second before impact and Cooley ran through him from behind. That doesn't take a bulldozer to do, if Newman would have tackled Cooley like that it wold have been a miracle.

I'm not sure if it was the play, but in that game, newman actually put a Commanders OL or FB on his back, then got blasted in the back by an olineman...He just shot throught the screen...

He was the highest regarded CB in the draft and they took him.
You can throw out all the woulda/coulda/shouldas you want in regard to who they should of taken instead of him but he's a top notch player who would start for any team in the league.
He had a lot to prove as a top 10 pick, got schooled for awhile learning to play in the NFL but never let it stop him from becoming a great player.
And have you ever heard the guy complain about anything?

You can throw out all the woulda/coulda/shouldas you want in regard to who they should of taken instead of him but he's a top notch player who would start for any team in the league.

The kid has played well for us. And all the better that he, at least to this point, seems to be a fine young man who we should be proud is wearing the uniform.

I couldn't care less about any other teams players. CB was our biggest need at the time. And he was most certainly one of the best picks available.

And some of you would have chosen Lefty? How'd that pick look now with our coaching record with young QB's? He'd be on his way to Germany or something at this point and we'd all be lamenting the fact we passed on Newman.

we have yet to see Newman at his best, he now knows how to play within the new rules

Personally I'm gald that we didn't draft Leftwich. Our OL is old and they would get SO tired carrying his lame arse down the field after each completed pass...
