People protect Romo with his stats, high passing ratings, great road record. all that matters to me is win when it counts...

Marino would be considered the best QB ever if he wins one SB but he never won, therefore he falls down in the top 10 and to think he had almost every record a QB could have.

When I argue with friends and people I don't know, they say when was the last time you guy won a playoff game, I ask them has your team ever won a SB. Only 2 teams fans can argue with me Pitt and 49ers..Yeah I live on the past because it's the history of sports and my team, you think I'll let a Eagles fan get the best of me and they never won anything...

Everybody here watches the Cowboyz game and everyone see what we are doing wrong or where we have problems at, but certain respected people come up with stats to try to make us feel better, some fall for it some don't.

I know most if not all you guys here are die hard fans but since this is a message board you have to be politically correct and can't speak your mind all the time. But when I talk to cowboys fans in general, they think the same thing I think, Romo is a choke, we need new coaches, faster WRz and so on.

No sugar coating anything, no one coming up with stats to fulfill their argument, just plain facts. I mean I take alot of time out for the Cowboys, every Sunday for 5 months, not including 7 days a week 365 I spend reading this site and all I get when we lose is stats to make people fell better when I know the same people posting stats is watching the games cursing everybody out on TV....

As of right now, we are an 8-8 to 9-7 team, we have no team speed, no heart, no desire, no coach (head or OC) with a game plan, no practice habits and people expect us to win..... It's very frustrating to watch a team I dearly love but I know one day we will win and it'll be a bittersweet SB..... On the bright side I still have the Dodgers and the Lakers to ease the pain of my beloved Cowboyz.....................

Stats mean a lot actually, not nothing! Especially when it comes to deciding how much a player gets paid, at many times even igniting incentive clauses. Now championships are worth more but don't say stats mean nothing.

In regards to defending Romo with his stats, it's one of the many variables a player is quantified by, not just Romo. The fact of the matter is, Romo's stats are nothing special this year and he's recieved more heckling after the first 4 games to start a season than ever. So with good stats he gets good feedback. With poor stats he gets poor feedback.

Stats are definitely a very good indicator of a players ability on the field. Depends how in depth stat wise you are willing to go to conclude your analysis and opinion on any player.

Yeah, Hamlin had good stats in 07 got paid, Romo good stats got paid so on and so forth, but now look, we paid all these players who had one maybe 2 good years and we are still a average team.. but hey they have good stats....

This thread is awesome!

Come on man you know Joe Theismann, Mark Rypien, Trent Dilfer, Jim McMahon and a few others are just at a higher level than a Marino. :laugh2:

What is the definition of a "win when it counts"?

Dallas beat Indy late in 2006. Did that not count?

Dallas beat the Giants late in 2006 at NY. Did that not count?

Dallas beat Green Bay late in 2007 to essentially secure the #1 seed in the NFC. Did that not count?

Dallas beat the Giants late in 2007 at NY. Did that not count?

If only winning Superbowls counts then there are but a handful of QBs that won when it counted. I would rather have Marino as my QB than some of the guys that were fortunate enough to be carried by their teams to a SB win.

There is a reason that Dilfer only has 1 SB ring. He was one of the least reasons the Ravens won it all. Guys like Staubach and Aikman meant more to their teams and that is why they have multiple SB wins. Put Marino in Dilfer's place with the Ravens and he has a SB win. Put Dilfer in Marino's palce with Miami and they don't even make the playoffs.

It is the one thing some can't seem to grasp TEAMS win SB. QB is important but QB's do not win SB without having a very talented teams around them. Troy was great but having top players around him played a major part in why the Cowboys won Championship same with Joe Montana look at the roster on both offense and defense

I dont know about nothing, and I hate that some are criticized for not being able to win the big game.

Its only a problem if your team loses because of you. P. Manning was not losing up until he beat chicago, he was losing because he had no D. He was not to blame. Marino was not to blame. You give Marino trent dilfers D and he wins too. Some people are unfairly criticized.

Romo and McNabb have put themselves in the situation where they can be questioned. They are great in most games and a little flaky in big time situations.

*****disclaimer***** as shaky as Romo has been, and the critical errors he has made, he can not be blamed for the Giants Playoff loss. He did enough to win that game and had 2 td's slid off of his numbers because crayton dropped a ball, and quit on a route. I still dont understand him going to Glenn with TO and Witten there though.

Marino: Hey guys I have 400 career TD's and yards up the ying yang.

Rypien: I have a SB ring....

Marino: So I won rookie of the year and passed for 49 tds and one year....

Theismann: I have a SB ring.....

Marino: who cares I have great stats...

Mcmahon: But I have a SB ring....

Marino: I have stats

Players have stats are good, Barry Sanders has stats and I think he one of the best RBs ever, now if he wins a SB he probably would be considered the best ever......

If Jordan did everything he did but never won a ring he would not be considerd best ever by many.

So would you take Big Ben over Peyton Manning if you had to start a franchise. Or even Big Ben over Marino?

I wouldn't take Big Ben over either. Super Bowls are won by teams. QB's get to much credit and to much blame for teams success' and failures.

Football is not basketball.

Did Jordon play a sport where he sat half the game?

Watching Romo this year brings back the nightmare days of Drew Bledsoe throwing picks when our team is in scoring position.

Marino talent was head and shoulders above those guys. Here is a fricken hint Teams win SB those teams won because they had great teams no QB wins SB alone, none of them not one single QB has went and single handly won a SB. There have been SB won by nothing more than avg QB but there was nothing avg about the team they played on. Most SB teams have a ton of talent on their teams. The HOF is loaded with them.
