http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.co...rgoes-surgery-on-dislocated-thumb-mike-tomlin

During the game Sunday, two starters, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Maurkice Pouncey, left the game with injuries. Pouncey came back for a brief time before leaving permanently.

Pouncey, who suffered a dislocated thumb on his snapping hand, underwent surgery to repair the dislocated finger, and although most would think this would leave the team short-handed at center for a few weeks, Tomlin didn’t rule out Pouncey returning to practice by the end of the week.

Getting Pouncey back in a big game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10 would be a huge boost for the black and gold as they try to right the ship and break their current losing streak.

In other injury news, Darrius Heyward-Bey suffered a foot sprain, leaving his availability for Sunday’s game very much in question; however, this is where it is nice to have a healthy Markus Wheaton waiting in the wings. Wheaton would see significant snaps if Heyward-Bey is unable to play.

Other than Pouncey and Heyward-Bey, DeAngelo Williams is getting his knee evaluated from team physicians, which could limit him some this week, and Tomlin also added Ben Roethlisberger could be limited in the early portions of the week as well, stating he still isn’t 100-percent coming off his knee surgery.

The good news continued for the Steelers as Tomlin said both Marcus Gilbert (foot) and Cameron Heyward (hamstring) had no ill effects of their first game action in several weeks. A good sign for them to have a clean bill of health moving forward.

Like I said, they are desperate and playing almost for their season. Of course they are going to go all out. If Pouncey doesn't play it may get ugly though :)

Ben, LeVeon, and Antonio--- tough dudes to match up with for 4 quarters. If those 3 show up and bring their "A" game-- we could be in for a real dogfight. This is another great "measuring stick" game for Dak and this offense. We should be able to move the ball and score on that defense.

Tough place to play and the Steelers are coming off a bad loss and will be looking for a statement game to get them going for a stretch run. If the rookies grab the W here, I'll be in a (pleasant!) state of shock... in fact, I won't call them rookies anymore. Gonna have to think of another term for them as they would have put themselves into such a rarified category they shouldn't be lumped in with the usual rookie chattel like Wentz and Goff ;)

If we stick to the script and continue to control TOP then we'll be fine, that'll keep Ben and company off the field...looks to me Pittsburgh is doing as Dallas did last year, rushing guys back from injuries.

You mean Sean Lee and the defense. I have no doubt that Dak and the offense can move the ball and score points against Pittsburgh. But it's the defense that will face it's biggest test so far this season. Probably the best offense we will have face so far this season.

I'm with you. This is a high quality offense with as good as it gets at many of the skill positions. This defense will have its' work cut out for them. Conversely, the Cowboys' offense should and needs to execute and 'do what they do' offensively against the Steelers defense.

It's another big challenge game.

Good. Means Irving doesn't have to fight Pouncey
I was at the game, and the video doesn't show it all. For some reason I was watching Irving, and he was straight sitting on Erving (sp ? ) like a big brother does to a little brother. It was freaking hilarious
