Steelers released ILB Larry Foote.

Director of football operations Kevin Colbert called the transaction "inevitable" because of Pittsburgh's salary cap situation. The Steelers couldn't get anything for Foote in a trade, but he's only 29 and shouldn't have trouble finding a new home. The Colts and Lions are possible landing spots.

I sure would like to tell Brooking CYA later and get this guy.

Before anyone asks...

no.

No at ILB. No at OLB. No he can't convert to SS. No he can't push Stanback for the last WR spot.

I say we bring him in for the Wildcat.

CHAMPIONSHIP

If the Steelers are releasing a LB, that's enough for me to say no thanks to the foote.

he was released because of their cap situation, not his play

His cap hit was the biggie, but they took him out on passing downs as well. He was upset about that and wanted out. They won the SB, they know something......................

Can he kick it for touchbacks and cover on kicks. He and Buehler would have to fight to the death to see who sticks and who goes.

 The Buehler thing is way overplayed.

My co-worker is a huge Steelers fan and he definitely says it's because of inevitable cap issues. This has always been the Steelers way. They will release someone before they have to pay them. The logic is their scouting dept. is so good they'll just go draft and develop another LB for cheaper. They've been doing it for years and they're pretty damn good at it. Foote is really no big loss for them. Frankly, I'm jealous they can do that consistently.

Foote >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Carpenter. Can play and may also bring something to the lockerroom. Something Carpenter can do neither at.

It's just not going to happen. Foote was upset that he didn't play third downs last year. unfortunatly we already have Brooking. If we didnt, then I'd already be on the phone with him.

Yeah, as much as I loathe the STEALers, they do an outstanding job at evaluating and developing LB'ers.
