As for Smith, he was an EPIC FAIL for ESPN's TV network. Which is why he lost his job. His mistake is, he tries to play to a niche market, but ESPN can't use that. They need all-encompassing ratings, not just a niche market for their show.
What makes it worse is, while attempting to cater to that market, he creates a racial divide and alienates the rest of ESPN's audience to the point that they don't like him and refuse to watch him. ESPN in return lost market share and so they cut TV ties with him.
Niche markets are for small firms. Mega media outlets need mass appeal. If they do a niche show, it won't be on their bread and butter stage. Funny thing is, while he lost his show, ESPN was showing Pro Bowling Tour yesterday! :laugh2:
I totally disagree with your opinion here NYC. Like a lot of other posters, I don't like Chris Berman it has nothing to do with Race.
I can see why a lot of people don't like SAS, but I don't see how he is creating a racial divide.
